So how many from here went to the Christmas party last night(Wednesday)?
The ladies on Sunrise were cackling how they attended the function.
I couldn't help thinking this morning how much return do we actually get on our investment (membership). What is more important to the Club, corporate versus membership?
The answer obviously is the corporate dollar. I wonder how many people attending last night actually had Swans memberships? Not many I imagine.
I understand it was probably a corporate function but where was one for the fans? What would the Club do if memberships fell drastically?
What do we get offered? Is it one or two sausage sizzles a year or pay $300 for a Hall of Fame event. Where you won't see the Sunrise mob there anyway.
I went mid year to the members forum where they discussed what things could be done to improve and increase membership. Don't think they've worked it out yet.
I emailed Anthony Cammell the Swans Marketing General Manager after the Club Champion Dinner. He hosted the mid week function and I spoke briefly to him at the Club Champion dinner. I was going to suggest 3 things but only did 2 after he didn't even return with a one line thanks for your effort mate response.
Even Greg Miller personally rang me when the Shin Bone heads were trying to crack Sydney in 1999. I had an issue I can't remember now but I was impressed that he took the time to ring.
I might get the details of the GWS marketing bloke and see what he says. I bet I'll get a response.
How difficult would it have been for the Club to do either of the following:
1. Run a raffle of sort for members and pick 20 or so to attend the Swans Christmas Party; or
2. Have a Christmas Sausage sizzle where fans can turn up for training and get a chrissy photo with the players. John Longmire playing Santa.
Just something to think about. This is why I think GWS will improve things for members as to getting better value for their dollar. If not from the Swans then from GWS.
A win on the field just doesn't cut it for me in terms of membership. It's really lazy options taken by the Club and to a certain degree insulting. It's the "yeah the losers will renew and turn up to watch the games".
I'm not a loser and as I have AFL membership and RAS membership, I can drop my Swans support and see games anyway. I have four seats in the Brewongle as of next year.
If members remain silent then they will continue to deliver the same. How excited can I get about getting another cap with membership renewal?. Not very.
Perhaps a few "not happy Jan emails" to the Club might alert them to things. However, somehow I don't think it will.
The Christmas theme on RWO looks very very impressive. Well done guys and ladies.
