    The season is NEARLY here

Happy New Year and it's wonderful to wake up with a clear head on New Year's day. Simple solution to hangover's - don't drink.

Well only 6 weeks to the first historic game at Rooty Hill and I can't wait.

I'm predicting a top 4 finish for the team as the youngsters from last year really step up this year.

Hopefully LRT and B2 come back quickly from injury and now with Seaby back in play, it will be an interesting season as our depth is strengthened and a season free of long term injuries. Although with a few players over 30, you never know.

Well I'm off to have breakfast - a sardine milkshake with two raw eggs. I usually throw a handful of cooked chicken livers into the milkshake maker just to bulk it up. Tabasco is optional.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Leave out the tabasco and my cat will be in on it (leave it in and I'll gleefully watch my cat and wait!). Happy new year.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

        Im pumped !!!

I think we can just sneak in top5 again.

without Braddy and Bolts most of 2010 and without LRT KPP etc and a lot of young ones coming in we did very well !

        great base for 2011 !!

Congratulations to Brendan Boozola for being the first AFL player in 2011 to get into trouble with the police. Yes, you guessed it - public drunkeness.

Anyone tell me how Horse got his name (I assume it could be a similar reason to the way Donkey got his, but I need to know, its eating away at me).

Trotting out more old games, and its fascinating to watch just how individuals change the dynamics of the movement of the team on the ground. They may play the same positions, but its always with different awareness, strengths and weaknesses. For instance I know LRT was roasted a lot, but he always had a great team ethic and second efforts. They tended to watch Leo rather than assist him - probably aware of how much damage he could do pinging around in enclosed spaces. Nearly always left a wide bearth for BBB and MickyO. Fascinating to see how Mick was nearly always manned up one on one. Mal has a slightly different style than in his first years here. Kirky was Kirky, but his game shifted around from start to finish. Although at the finish his was totally different, but the opposition boys always played him expecting to be done over. Craig Bolton had a lot more weight in his face, played a great game from the very start, but he is looks a bit gaunt now (eat more Craig!).

Little Benny was getting the ball over and over, but his disposal was woeful. Great challenge to pick him up and shift that around. Once upon a time poor ole Donuts was a reasonable footballer until he lost his confidence in Sydney. Jolls wooda been nuthin without our help. Ungrateful prat. Just don't understand why Essendon didn't rate TedBear.

If its a stinker today, I am going to settle back and choose another little known blast from the past. Perhaps that EF against WC in the thunder storm at ANZ.....that was a corker.

                See you in six weeks......

I actually watched the 2006 GF on Christmas night for the first time since I attended that game - and I was still devestated!!! but this is a new decade and did anyone notice that the cracker display on the Harbour was predominatly red and white??? IS IT A SIGN??? (ok I'm clutching at straws here) but this year is feeling really good. cant wait for the new season to start!!!

Swans take us to heaven in 2 thousand and eleven!!!

You're stronger than me Wardy, I've not seen a replay of the game and like 1996 will probably never ever see the game.

Have a feeling both my footy sides are in for big years so feeling pumped about the year already.

it wasn't easy I have to say (as I just stumbled across it channel surfing) and there it was - I just thought - do it - you know you have to eventually!!! (I am applying this logic to my new weight loss regime that starts on the 13th january after the Marsh farewell tour boozy lunch-a-thon!)

I knew my job with 5 y o Lily was well done when she asked me just after Christmas, "Daddy, when does the footy start again?"

You must be so proud gos. I would be.

Wardy, just how much chardy had you consumed prior to watching the 2006 GF?? Hmmm???????

However, I also called to the gods that a Sign had been beamed down from on high when I saw the RedandWhite Bridge firework. Either that or one of the technicians is a Saints or Swans fan. Anyone take a photo? Make a nice banner.

I had the same thought re the red and white bridge fireworks. I only read about it as I haven't seen it. I hope it is a good omen. not long now till first pre season game. Bring it on. Already looking to book plane tickets for Adelaide and Gold coast games. Unfortunately in School holidays and so not cheap tickets.
                              Love those Swans
