Oh, and he IS the current Captain ...it would take a very unusual , almost unprecedented decision to remove him from the captaincy.
I dont think adam should be the sole captain. several reasons:

When things arent going his way he at times seems petulant. this is not the attribute of a (sole) captain.
Just because he has won two brownlows does not mean he should be captain. greg williams won two and from what i am aware he was never a captain.
he was not captain of the all-australian team. He was captain of the international rules team. there is a big difference here. (i.e. no Hodge, no judd, no g. ablett)

I think at least Keiran Jack should join him with an eye to the future, post-goodes. He looks to have the nerve and ability to rouse his teammates that is required to be a successful captain.

      yeah.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

You do realise that you have to be in the all-australian team to be the all-australian captain so I don't know how you can penalise Adam for that. Remember he was picked ahead of Matthew Boyd (newly appointed WB's captain) and Dustin Fletcher (who was co-captain of IRS in 2006).

and mmmyeah boyd is respected but technically he hadnt been made captain of his team yet, while fletcher wasnt either. I think they went for the obvious choice of the only actual cub captain in the team at the time.

My mistake then. However, I'm pretty sure Boyd has been officially unveiled as captain

Agree with the first point but the second confuses me a little. Are you saying that Goodes is not respected and it's about time that he was?? My feeling is that he is well respected by the club and the fans.

This is true but that was not the case when the international rules selectors picked their captain.

Basically I think Goodes can stay on as co-captain but I really think it would be beneficial for the team if Jack was also made co-captain.

Maybe its just a Melbourne thing but when things are going wrong he really cops the abuse. Mostly its unjustified, IMO he plays some of his best footy when we are down.

Nick Smith captained the Reserves to a grand final win or two, I believe. Can't recall which years precisely without looking up my notes which are not currently accessible.

Doesn't mean he's ready to captain the firsts, but it does demonstrate his leadership ability.

Would love a fluff piece or two on him in the news I love the kid, he played amazingly on Hodge in the first Hawthorn game last year and played consistently well every other game. He's definitely up there with Jack for future captain.

                              One Team One Captain please...

Goodes and then when he retires my guess would be Hanners.

I reckon if Jack keeps going as he is, he'd be a great chance to follow Goodes. Maybe then Hanners. There's almost 4 years between them.
