    Jenny, we need your help...

Jenny, I/we had this discussion with Larissa last year, but at the time, the season was well underway and it was a bit hard for Larissa to actually address it as processes had been put in place.

It is to do with the starting time of the ressies in relation to the gate opening times.

I note on the Transport infoline, for the Essendon game in 2 weeks, the gates open at 10:45 and the ressies start at 10:50. This quite obviously makes it difficult to get into the ground and in your seat before the game starts, especially at the SCG for those who sit almost anywhere, except for maybe Brewongle Concourse. If you have a premium seat at ANZ, forget about reaching those levels until the game is underway. This has been the case for some years now and a constant source of annoyance for many, but until Larissa came onboard, there wasn't much anybody could do.

Now guys like Ugg who tweets just about every play made in the ressies, myself who keeps all the kicks/handball stats in conjunction with my nephew and tweets them during the breaks, plus a few other tweeters I feel provide a pretty good service to RWO'ers or anybody else who is quite welcome to add themselves to the followers list. I know the Melb. guys especially hang on Twitter during the ressie games in Sydney. There is always a ressies report, an opinion piece or a lively discussion thread and wrapup from posters such as Liz, Primmy, ORB and others who I'm sure would also appreciate being able to physically reach their seat before the game starts.

Bottom line ..... can we get the gates opened a mere 5 minutes earlier????

It is not a case of extra wages etc. I can absolutely guarantee you that the gates are manned on the turnstiles by a full compliment of ground and gate staff at least 10 minutes before the gates open, just waiting for the OK thru the ground 2-way radio system to open for business.

5 minutes may not seem like much, but it will make a world of difference to ugg and myself that we can get to our seats and have a minute or two to see who is playing, who is out, before starting the tweetathon.

If gate opening times are not negotiable, perhaps give thought to delaying the start of the ressies and reducing some of the pre-game fluff by again, a mere 5 minutes.

    Cheers

There is one other option and that is to get fitter so you can get to your seat faster.

Get those leg warmers out Triple B and get PHYSICAL !

I think that might be the only option for both of you as the powers that be would not bother changing anything for a few true die hard supporters.

But worth a try with nothing to lose.

The NRL open their gates 15min before the first game so people can be there for the start if they so wish. It shouldn't be a hard thing to organise for the ANZ and SCG people to open 10-15min
      before the start of play.

So you've spent 5 minutes swinging Indian clubs around with RC and you think you're Richard Simmons now??

+1. Especially if you have a security guard from hell who wants to examine your sandwiches. It can take ages to get to your spot and I am not going to sprint!

Would much appreciate an extra five minutes.

Jenny, I'd add my five cents' worth of support to Triple B's request as one of many non-Sydneysiders who benefit from the frenzied tweeting and detailed reports that follow. This is especially so when it is obvious that many of the ressies are going to be playing firsts sooner or later and it helps to know where they're coming from. The firsts are obviously the main game but we love our ressies too.

+2. For us Red Zoners, there is always a big line waiting to get in. One can still be in the queue when the game starts.

                    Hi All,

Unfortunately, gate opening times sit well outside of my area in the Membership department.
I will however, follow up with the relevant staff member on Monday come back to you.

Given we are a week away from our first home game, and gate times have already been set - I'm not hopeful that I will be able to give you all the answer you are looking for.
I will do my best though, and make sure you have an answer on Monday.

Hope you're all enjoying Round 1!

It was probably closer to 9 minutes. Richard who? More like the Rankin Sisters since we're back in that era.

Thanks Jenny, it would be appreciated, especially by the Red Zoners, who are trying to get in before the horn and finding it very very difficult.

Don't know why Ressie games are not rated as fan attracters, but you like to get seated at the pictures before the credits role don't you.

While this isn't currently a problem for me as my seat in Bay 29 is close enough to Gate C, I do sympathise with Trips and co. as I used to sit in the O'Reilly and it was impossible to get over there before first bounce (this was before the Trumper Stand was up). I used to have to plop myself into the first available seat and they make my way over at quarter or half time.

If the gates won't open earlier, the alternative is to delay the start of the Reserves' match by 5 minutes.

Primmy, they are but not the first half, especially not the first 5 minutes when there are about 100 people at the ground.

You can't even get a coffee let alone food in the Brewongle before half time of the ressies. However, mighty thermos to the rescue this year.
