    Everitt the New White

Have we found the forward we have all been hoping Jesse would be? Everitt is tall, fast, good mark, leads well and kicks beautifully. He is wonderfully flexible and can go back or forward when needed.I think we may have what we have needed,a tall reliable focal point.Let Jesse be Jesse. He does enough good things and demands opposition attention. Full marks to Horse again for tossing Everitt in the forward line when Bevan had had a go without any impact. We may have discovered a potent forward weapon who will slip under the radar of many teams

Half a quarter is hardly enough to make a judgement on Incey as a forward - Weagles perhaps didn't give him the attention that with hindsight he deserved... To my mind, what happens next week in terms of the back six on the assumption Irish isn't quite right to come back if he did go forward? Uncle? LJ?

I think there is room for Jessie, Sam and and Incey in the forward line for mine. The other factor is when Horse gives Mummy some support - what then happens to Jessie? I think he could be an effective key defender given the right support - I wouldn't be doing it just yet though. I'd like to see him in the team somewhere given his athleticism. Those with long memories will recall Goodes played a year down back too.

First post BTW - hoping I can contribute with the same level of wit and insight as so many of the regulars.

If Jesse keeps doing what he did yesterday his spot will be permanently set. And let's see Andrejs up front more often; there's room for both, especially when Andrejs and Sam can both operate at both ends.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Maybe they can do a swap? I think Jesse would be better suited to playing on a forward like Lynch than Everitt. Although the fact that he has to go and relieve Mummy in the ruck would prove a slight impediment.

Welcome IDad, excellent first post. I agree re; White as a key defender, he has size, strength, and good pace and agility for a guy his size. Definitely worth a try. As a forward he has small bursts of fabulous play, then goes missing for long periods. This is unlikely to happen as a defender as he would be led to the ball. Physically, he would of matched up well on Lynch last night.

Apparently the Swans coaching box was filled with light hearted gigglinga nd surprise at his efforts after his second goal.
Possibly showed more than they suspected he might, whcih is a great thing.
Good to see new players making some sort of an impact - hope he can follow it up with some more spurts of class

If they keep him upback and pinch hit down forward it would keep the opposition guessing where on earth Incy is supposed to be! I like it. Surprised me, and from the look on his face, it surprised him too. Gee those kicks were straight!

His a beautiful kick of the footy, I couldn't believe how both of his goals eased straight through the middle. Nice to know we have someone who can actually kick straight

                    Finally

Gotta say that Jude has been a better shot at goal this year as well.

That's a common misconception. For all the ugliness in his kicking, Jude's conversion rate is in the very good class 132.78 (62.9%) over his career including 38.20 (65.5%) in the years 2008-10. For a comparison, Goodes has 317.206 (60.6%) and 72.51 (58.5%) in 2008-10

As for Everitt, we are talking about 1 quarter of footy, where the unexpected switch seem to catch the West Coast defenders out, given that Shannon Hurn ended up playing on him rather than a taller opponent as you would expect. If he can repeat the dose in 3 or 4 games then we can start talking.

For the first 2 and 3/4 games of his Swans career I couldn't see it. He's no backman.

I can see him filling the defensive forward role. There are fewer and fewer places for Bevo to hide.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Welcome aboard- a very well thought out first post, too!

I tend to agree with half a quarter not being a big enough sample size, I like Everitt a lot and was very excited to get him to the Swans, and if he gets a longer run in the forward line then great, too- but really pretty early to tell one way or the other. For now, great cameo and here's hoping he uses it for confidence in whichever role he plays.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

With Bolton C. lost, and LRT still missing, there is still a need for tall defenders at the moment. AJ was pretty good, but Everitt has more value at the moment in that role

The Cats have some big forwards so this coming game will show more of what "might be".
