    Ugg is Swansreserves

Ugg's doing a great job i the rain, though not nearly as good as Reserves: 18.14 to 1.5.

They started the game top and on 356%.

They let them kick a goal in the last quarter. When will these blokes learn to run games out.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

The rain may or may not stay away but in any case it's going to be freezing out there tonight

on the game, great result no one real standout but a lot to like from most of the players

Lamb was very good only two goals today but I like the extra effort he puts in off the ball
TDL padded out his goal tally with 4 in the last but it was good to see him back to his usual form. Crumbing goals and nailing set shots
liked what I saw from Spangher - very athletic and good kick
LRT competent in the forward line but today was all about game time. I think he played about three quarters
Byron looks so clean in the wet but while he got a lot of it his ball use was mixed. Faded in he second just a tad
Seaby had only an okay game I thought. A lot of taps but not many effective ones. Perhaps a tad harsh in the wet. Didn't look that good in the forward line either
Cuz went down awkwardly in the second quarter but when he came back he was very good! In fact I think he rucked most of the second half
McNeil had his usual solid game won a lot of fks through being first at the ball
Lj was fantastic inthe first quarter especially. Did his defensive work well and also distributed it well. Saw less of the ball later on
Haren with his new black do, didn't hang on to as many marks as in previous games but his goal was fantastic. He has that screw around the body kick down pat
Kruger spent a lot of time in defence but still managed to have 3 consecutive shots the third of which finally split the middle. A good learning role for him
Parker was okay in the only half he played perhaps tried to do a little too much at times but he is very strong in the tackle
Kane Murphy the standout among the toppies. Just so hard at it but also some class around the half forward area

              Thanks to all, especially ugg.
Sounds like the ressies are going to be a force in the NE AFL.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Firstly, I'm not going to write a match report, I guess my thoughts 3 posts above will do for me. So if anyone else who was out there wants to write one please feel free to do so!

Second, the official match report is up on the Swans site. Now, I'm not a fan of McKaigue but thought he had a solid game with no mistakes but I wouldn't have placed him as 3rd best. I would have found a spot for Lamb somewhere and maybe the Dyl as well. Also thought Kane Murphy was the best toppie although I would have had Thompson as the 2nd best just ahead of Brain. Robinson kicked a beautiful curling goal and took a nice mark but he looks the youngest of the lot. Didn't see much of Wales or Kenny.

I think next week is Lewis Johnston's best chance of a debut, probably for Everitt. I feel LRT needs at least one more week in the reserves so it's LJ's opportunity as the third tall defender. Although, with Barry Hall out the Dogs don't really have much of a tall forward line.

Quote from the official report "Byron Sumner gave the team plenty of energy around the stoppages and was often the link between the contest and a free target. His foot skills and decision making were vital, rarely making a mistake in difficult conditions."
Pity some of that did not rub off on the seniors. I know Uncle looked like a rabbit in the headlights in round one but he must be due another crack.

                          How about:

                          In: Uncle
                          Out: Nephew

Although that would be a shame as those two really combine well for some exciting, quick one-twos!

I don't have much to add to Ugg's comments but I was very impressed with Johnston today. He would have been my BOG and I really hope he gets rewarded next weekend.

Sumner was good in parts but he was doing what he often does, which is hover around many contests and then pick which ones he fancies going in to influence. In some respects this could be seen as smart play because our seniors can often be guilty of too many of them getting sucked into contests. But I wonder if this style is going to win him a senior spot. When he did decide to attack the ball today he was generally pretty good, though not as flawless as the official report suggests. But then again, conditions weren't really suited to flawless handling or disposal.

TDL looks like he is not a wet weather footballer - he had little impact when the rain was at its worst. But once it dried out in the second half, he did show a lot of class in his finishing ability. He looks a fair bit fitter than last year - or has been told that he needs to work further away from the forward 50 at times to win a senior spot back. He did chase and tackle quite well up the ground, but it is in front of the big sticks where his value really does become apparent.

We should just draft more players with webbed hands.

I said that without a single reference to Tasmania or South Australia.
