    Swans to peak in 2012?

I was just mulling over the likes of Carlton, West Coast and Freeo etc on track to peak in 2012 after listening to AFL 360 last night........if you looks at the blues they have some 14 players under 50 games and we look to be doing something similar for 2011 but we also have the luxury of a fair few 50 plus gamers

so given AJ, Nipper, Sumner, Reid etc etc are just starting to get a game and given that we have a stack of players ie approx 12 under 50 games or close to it makes me think that if we are going to peak it will be 2012 as Bolts, ROK, Goodes, Mattner, Shaw etc etc will still be around in 2012 or most of them anyway.

2013 may be a leveling year due to the potential loss of around 5 key experienced players.

It also helped to relax a little and step away from my tunnel vision of 2011

Suggesting that Jack, Mumford, Kennedy, McGlynn, Hanberry, Grundy, McVeigh and Smith won't make up for that loss? Add to their numbers Malceski, Richards, Seaby amd Pike (all will be 28-30 at that point) and there is a pretty stableexperience base for any team.
So no, I do not think the Swans will peak in '12

Those 3 teams have a load of very low draft picks in them.

the biggest issue we have going forward beyond 2012 is who will replace Goodes as a genuine Superstar of the game....
I dont believe we have one yet...(Hannes performance in 2012 may prove otherwise) but and thats a big BUT...i dont seem him as a game changer in the ilk of Goodes, Judd, Swan, Ablett mould....
Jack may if his attacking ability develops into a consistant week in week out match winnng performaces..(i said in another thread he potentially is a future Brownlow medallist( Jack not got injured Judd def wouldn't have had that impact))..

We seem to have KPP developing in the wings..(need game time into them though so avoid them asking for trades..) So for us as i said game changing midfielder.....

I've got massive hopes that Sammy Reid can become a real game changer up forward- but as we have seen (and perhaps we set the bar high after having such wonderful goalkickers like Capper,Lockett and Hall) big men can take some time to develop.

We will lack that superstar when Goodes go and that certainly helps, but is partially offset by the way we play. Next year certainly won't be the year we peak in my opinion. Too many players still inexperienced and still young- I think we could potentially give the Premiership a good shake next year (This year I think if we pull our finger out we can challenge for top 4 but the Pies are a long way in front of everyone), but 2013 could be a big year for us maybe.

We still haven't replaced Plugger yet. I'd personally like to see a number of players covering that role than a single standout player.

I think that we have a couple of developing kpp and some mid-size utilities, but what we really need are TWO class midfielders who can break lines (a la Ablett/Bartell, Swan/Pendlebury, etc) - past premiers always seem to have at least two, and sometimes more - think Geelong and then back to Brisbane. Sure, we nearly won two in a row with tradesmen in the middle, but that is quite uncommon. Maybe KJ can develop into one of them, but we sure need someone else as well.

I think Paul Williams and Adam Goodes together was the last time we had two mids who had that ability. It is the sort of role Jetta and Rohan could make their own if their development goes as we hope.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I think 2077 will be the year it all comes together.

Would have merged by then GWSS - Greater Western Sydney Swans.

The inferior team to the then major and 2076 premiership winning Sydney team called - Much Northern Western Bulldogs who were relocated by the AFL in 2024.

Kangaroos will be trying their luck playing out of Tonga that year.

Runners up were the Shanghai Pandas with the Canadian Rockies being unlucky in the Prelim. The Collingwood Eddies (Changed their name 60 years ago) collected another wooden spoon after 98 year old coach Dane Swan had his eyes tattooed shut Also there is talk that Tasmania is still hopeful of fielding a team next year.
