Now I know why we kept persisting with Mumford and White in the ruck... we didn't really have a choice with Seaby's fitness obviously not what it should be. Hopefully now that Pyke has emerged as a viable ruck option he will be able to help out when he comes back from injury. I don't know about Currie, he seems to have fallen out of favour.

Firrito cited by the MRP but it was not for the McGlynn late hit or the elbow to Jetta's jewels. It was for rough conduct against ROK 50m away from the play.
Michael Firrito, North Melbourne, has been charged with a Level One engaging in rough conduct offence against Ryan O?Keefe, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the Round 10 match between North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday May 28, 2011.
In summary, due to his previous poor record, his one-match sanction must remain at one match, even with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from Sydney, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of 93.75 points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 218.75 points and a two-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 164.06 points and a one-match sanction.Comment

I'm just watching the replay and there are lots of nice things we did even in the 3 Stooges first half.
That ball from Shaw to Parker was superb in the 2nd Qtr and Parkers hands were cement. Real shame he didn't nail it.
LRT was very good. Didn't really appreciate how strong his game was.
As it's only Round 10 and we've won all the games we should and even one we shouldn't on all predictions I am feeling positive.
As the side settles and the younger players are more familiar with when and where to run things will come together.
Didn't see any vision of Firrito on ROK. Bad man! Very Bad Man!Comment

The only issue is that would mean Reid , AJ and LJ all together in the forward line. That would have to go close to being a record breaking level of inexperience all together in a forward line.... not including Gold coast obviously.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... Sorry guys, haven't read through 14 pages.
Watching the game at Etihad was fab. I bit my fingernails to the elbows. Thanks to everyone I met up with, fantastic to see you all again and to meet new faces.
Big kudos to the defenders - they managed to defend one point for 20 minutes. Is that a record?
It's the little things that stuff us up. Lots of players were very sloppy, i.e. man up; don't handball into traffic; don't just stand there looking at it, pick the ball up; take a second to have a look before you blindly kick the ball to the opposition (have a look at Joey for your example on how it's done);
At least we got the four points.
The aftermatch in Melbourne rocks - whether we win or lose. The people down there are just happy to see the swannies up close and personal.
Jetta's run down the wing. I love the way that kid takes off like lightening!! I was on my feet trying to look down 8 storeys, and I'm pretty sure he was running outside the line and bouncing the ball in. What a clever little bugger he is. How dirty is Ferrito for the elbow in the Jets' nuts after Jets' tackle??? Hope he gets into trouble for that. Dirty, filthy Ferrito. I'd go to the North Melbourne fan website to complain about it, but I'm sick of having the same argument with the same person over and over again.

Just watched the recorded game, it wasn't all that awful! The seniors were fairly crap though. Disappointing. All of a sudden can't mark, can't find the handle. Shaw though was terrific, and Smooch and Birdy and Benny, and Reg, Marty, and LRT is a good man to have around. Our defence...... however our midfield is quite out of balance and our forwards lost the plot at times.
But the overriding thing for me is that the kids played better this game than the last, and had more confidence to take their place. There was not as much "direction" from the senior boys this game. Played their own game. And they were persistent, accurate, etc. I can see that Nipper would have been lost in the intensity, but the mob that played were just fine.
We are NOT going to win the flat this year people, we will finish in the top 8, and one day the new crop will get us to the top of the heap. They are working up very good onfield relationships. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

CHB: Grundy > LRT
FB: On this year's form, Ted > LRT
3rd tall: AJ > LRT (IMO LRT is not agile enough - must play key position)
2nd ruck, changing forward: Seaby/Pyke > LRT
CHF: Reid > LRT
FF: Bradshaw/White > LRT. Too early to say on LJ, though clearly he's the better longer term prospect.
Given current injuries, i think the only viable role for LRT is the one he played on the weekend. But when Mummy comes back, I think Seaby or Pyke are better options both in the ruck and resting forward.Comment
