Many here are being critical of the Tomahawk but if the rumours are correct, which seems very likely, the Swans are very keen to get him as they must have a very good reason to do so.
I thought hawkins was a dominant junior with skill and ability who would have went near top draft pick. Is this true or was he just a big body among small kids that stood out and probably dominated as a result. That to me is the important issue as you dont generally lose your ability but you can lose confidence and fitness.

Ablett was a very rare case with the amount of money GC was able to offer him... plus, Ablett had already won two premierships with Geelong. He'd achieved everything there was to achieve with a club. Riewoldt has yet to win anything close to a premiership with Richmond, and would be desperate to lead their young group to a flag, which might actually happen in three or so years. Plus, even if he were looking elsewhere (which he's not!) it would be for the millions that GWS have, and his name has yet to be thrown around at all in the media, which leads me to believe he's on some kind of long term deal.

If a player has to relocate to Sydney, surely he'd go to GWS for $800,000, not Swans for $500,000

We need to sit tight, and concentrate on keeping as many of our own. Use Bradshaws money to keep existing players.
GWS can't offer a real chance of a Premiership for years. With a gun FF we can.

              Hawkins eh?

              Ah ... no thanks.

I'd rather see a hard-working ressie get a permanent spot in the team.

                his cousin might leave stkilda.

As for hawkins- if he came cheaply id take him, but i dont like the sounds of chasing after him with cash and draft picks.

hmm well put it this way - if he came to Sydney - the monkey to be like his dad at Geelong will be off his back - as Jewels said Joshua P had the Kennedy legacy on his back at Hawthorn and look at him now! With a different team, a different regime to work with, a new start just might be the ticket - and he can take a mark and does have an idea of how the game is played - he may be pidgeon holed at Geelong but just maybe Sydney could turn him into the kind of player everyone expected. Stranger things have happened.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

If he was going to go anywhere he would be mad not to take a big offer from GWS.

Nailing my colours to the mast, I have been a Jesse fan in the past but am very frustrated with him now. I HOPE he comes good and this all becomes very moot, however if the rumours are correct does anybody think that maybe it could be a deal like Vespremi/Everitt and we could swap Jesse with Hawkins and both parties could win?

I have never really liked farm boy. I'd rather persist with Jesse. They are too similar and i dont really see a clear benefit of the trade.

True and also how on earth would we be able to come up with a trade for him?? Geelong wouldnt give hawkins away lightly either, not that im keen on him aswell.

This all could be a big stunt to make Jesse pull his finger out, hopefully it works
