And when was that, in the 90's???? IMO since 05 when we last beat them if some of the games were at the SCG the swans were more of a chance to beat them, especially the other night, but we will never know. The sooner we stop playing at ANZ the better, the players hate it and I get the drift most supporters do aswell, hence the declining crowd numbers.

I agree. It's why I did that analysis to show just taking the Win/Loss ratio over the entire histories of both venues is flawed. You'll note I didn't conclude that the SCG is better because of that different analysis simply because I would be falling into the same trap as most people who just look at the raw data to make a point. I'm not as eloquent as most so I probably should have tried made that point a bit clearer. It is a valid observation, but like most stats, can be misleading if taken out of context. We have generally been fixtured to play better performing opposition clubs at Homebush and lesser teams at the SCG, especially over the past couple of seasons. Media pundits often quote our recent record at Homebush as evidence that we don't play very well at the ground, ignoring the more obvious trend that recently we haven't played very well against top 4 opponents...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

spot on Almyster - we all have a whinge from time to time about the games that got away and certain players who we feel arent' up to par - but we still hope like hell that they will get there and give it a red hot go. If we didnt love this club, then none of us would be on a forum like this and we wouldn't spend money on memberships and going to matches. I have met some really terrific people through this club - so for that alone I am truly thankful to the Swans.I have always said that if my team has a red hot crack then I'll be happy. If that translates to a win then I will be absolutely ecstatic.
The thing I love about this club is that we get that effort most weeks. We have built up a culture that less than 100% commitment to the contest is deemed unacceptable. We can criticize certain players at times and not agree with selections and tactics but at the end of the day what most of love about the club as it stands is that culture of absolute commitment. The Pies match typified that commitment for me and for 99.99% (thanks Wardy) of our supporters.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I would have thought our (Sydney Swans) contracted 3 games have to be 3 of our home games. If GWS have a contract to play there, that would be in addition, wouldn't it? (Someone more informed feel free to chime in.)Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment

I always thought the contract was with the AFL. The same contract that says they have to play finals there.
If that's right then no reason why they can't do what Matt suggests...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I'm sure it's the Swans that are contracted, not the AFL. When I say sure, I'd throw and tanty and make my team put it down for a trivia answer, but probably wouldn't bet my last $20 on it. There was a thread following the member feedback session the Swans held last year but I can't find it.Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment

No offence, but I sure hope you're wrong. I would prefer that we play no home games on GWS's turf from next year.Comment
