There were 3 Pies marks in that quarter that were out on full

Yep, I agree totally - I reckon 3 or 4 have been on the full but not called.

McVeigh is at least having a go this week. White's tackle on Harry O'Brien in that qtr was pathetic - I bet McGlynn or Jude would have got a good hold on him.

Left field idea - maybe chuck Goodesy in the ruck?? He seems in a bit of a rut and maybe the freedom might help. Yeah I know about his knee etc but Seaby is already beating Wood and we are still losing.

We are giving it a real hot go, but our skill errors and decision making really hurt us in that quarter. Umpires have been woeful, but I'm happy enough that we are still hanging on in the game- I was worried we would get pummelled all night. If we play the 4 quarters out we can keep it more than respectable, and if we stopped giving the Pies a leg up every 5 seconds with silly errors, who knows?

Inexperience! Rubbish, if that was the 2's odds on he would have marked it. He has played more than enough footy to know he had to mark that time. He's in the big time tonight.

Still, I expected a complete smashing by this stage and it hasn't happened so better than I had expected. Really impressed with our tackling and endeavour tonight, even if our skills are clearly second rate.

Another observation, I think we have seen the best of Adam Goodes. The question is whether from here he plateaus or goes into steep decline a la Chad Cornes.
They are a little more desperate. Like Carlton last week they seem to win those close in contests and the ball squeezes out to them more often that not.

That was an ordinary attempt at a mark, and then tackle a few mins later.

I'm happy to give McVeigh another bake this week.
                          Had a good Qtr 1.

LJ has a booming kick on him. Should do more of the kick outs.

What a different side we may have been if the Bradshaw gamble had worked...but, I think he was never really in the running with the pre condition injuries when he arrived to The Swans....

We really need a half from white and goodes to stand up and make some contests and mark occasionally.

i realise we are not in the same league as the Pies, Blues, Cats or Hawks but what peeves me is that the Umpies see fit to make it even more one sided by giving them easy kicks. The big earners for the AFL Pies, Blues, Cats & Bombers seem to get it good from the Umpies, I wonder if it has something to do with money as we can only get 38,000 into the SCG & are only getting 25 to 30k whereas these sides pull 40k plus every week. That free to Daws against Grundy was soft at best, I could not see a push at all, Daws just leapt forward, it is what I would call a dive & in the sub leagues would have been play on. We are a long way from the level needed to beat these blokes but we need to do things a bit differently. We are being opened up down the guts again, ala last week, we need to plug it. I would put Everrit in defence as a loose player & put Goodes in the mid for the rest of the game. He is just playing for frees in the f/line & they know how we set up with him so vary & take him out & let the forwards work on their own. I wish the big guys would lead to opposite sides of the ground or at least 40 metres apart.
