Post 66 in the same thread didn't take your fancy ??
We all see it different and although Liz, ugg and myself nearly always see things fairly closely, we didn't see things the same on Jetta's game. It doesn't even mean I was correct, but let's not use terms like 'From all reports he was average at best' which has been thrown around a bit this week.
FWIW, I see no value in playing Jetta as sub this week. I've thought he was the perfect choice a few times this year, but not this week.
In hindsight it would not surprise if indeed the plan was always to give him last week off in a game which was always going to be a pressurefest and freshen him up for the wide open spaces of Footy Park in a game they expect to win.
Bevan the sub for me this week. Has the versatility to play forward and back if needed early and it is less likely this week that we will be looking for an impact player to come off the bench and give us something because we are in trouble.Comment

I was hoping that LJ would have been left in. Looking at the replay he made a few mistakes last Sat. but he did some good things too and seemed to settle into his role with confidence as the game went on, and it was against the Pies. I don't dispute that AJ would have the edge at the selection table this week. However my concern is that LJ looks like becoming one of the unfortunate ones; like TDL he has to keep proving himself in the Ressies while others don't; dare I say it also like Ed, there is no place for him in the Seniors, either in the forward line or the back line, AJ and Reid and seemingly White are always going to be picked before him, so this year at least he is only going to get a game here and there to replace an injured player. It is strange the way things work out - he has skills the team needs, but like with TDL, others get the breaks.Comment

How people convenientlty forget that the game he had the week after when the Bulldogs paid close attention to him. If he can't do what is required by the coaches in the inferior quality reserves how is he going to do it in the seniors.
As for Jetta I believe he'd still be in reserves if it wasn't for the injuries and the big ground we're playing on. Selection is always about getting the right mix against the particular opponent you are facing and the ground you play on.
That being said I am actually a big fan of Lewis and Jesse (I understand the logic of Lewis being in the team this week), but it just bemuses me that one bloke can play 12 weeks of pedestrian footy (Jetta) and another can play nearly 18 months of it (Jesse) while there's a bloke in the two's kicking bag after bag after bag.Comment

TDL.LJ and others
With TDL and LJ I am not saying they are ready made AFL players just yet or that they both don't need to lift aspects of their games to a higher level.Of course they do and the critics who point this out are quite right. No arguments there. What I am arguing is that TDL with his faults is still better value than some players who have gone in in front of him like Everitt for example and maybe Jetta too although that is a line ball call.I would also prefer we stuck with LJ rather than bring back Bevan .
This is my opinion based on watching these guys play on TV.To me both LJ and TDL have shown an upside that is exciting,Everitt and Bevan haven't and Jetta promised a lot but hasn't delivered.
Which player is best for the team structure is the coaches call and at least most of the kids are getting a go at some stage. It will be interesting to see who makes the best 22 come September.Comment

Agreed he didn't have much impact against the Bulldogs, and the two games this year he hasn't set the world on fire, but that's only three games. Surely Horse could give the guy an extended chance for pity's sake... like he has done for a certain Mr Jetta and (up until earlier this year) Mr White.

TDL's omission is the short term pain long term gain out look. Too many mecurial players fall off the path along the way, and the coaching staff have identified some propensity to not put effort in when the ball isn't in hand, that they want destroyed.
I don't see it myself. When he's played seniors he seems to chase quite well, though he doesn't seem as fit as he could be. Just play him!The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

LJ and Moore named for the reserves, who are playing Sat arvo, so it looks like Everitt is the travelling emergency and they're expecting Ted and AJ to play.

I must object to your evaluation Big Al. For a start, he wasn't the only one to go missing against the Bullies! To just blame it on one bloke is unfair & in doing so diminish the other games he played so well in. Your objection to TDL is that he doesn't chase I seem to believe from your posts, then the same can be said for young Lewie. If he isn't the front runner for the ball he eases up and gives up the chase or only goes half pace. We need someone who can tackle hard to expose Doughty's lack of speed & skills & also to stop him from creating the loose man. I don't think Lewis is going to do that, nor is he going to kick any more than 2 goals in any game the way he misses them. I like the young bloke & think him exciting but be real he still has heaps to learn & one of those things is to put in 100% effort all the time. The other problem with the game against the Bullies was that we brought Braddy back & I think that upset team ballance as we all day looked for him to our detriment. Before that we had a range of options & were useing those players but with Braddy the players were obviously told to kick to him all day & it backfired. He wasn't even fully fit so why not blame Roos or Braddy for not being fit? The week before the players had looked for TDL in the Bullies match they only kicked to him under pressure & the delivery was @@@@e & set him up. So don't ever blame one player & I don't know what you have against him anyway, he is a Swan & I think a very good footballer!!!!
Have a look at the post I was responding to which stated that TDL proved himself in the Carlton game and should be in the seniors because of it. All I did was point out that he had a poor game the week after. Also where do I state that the Bulldogs loss was TDL's fault. Don't bother because you find anywhere where i say that. Also go back through my posts and find where I have on numerous occassions state that I'm a fan of TDL and that he will be an important part of our next premiership...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
