Poor LRT - He was used as a makeshift ruckman, then when it came time for him to hold down a key position he looked all at sea. I think he should be allowed to settle back into the back line where he belongs.

Agreed as well as letting Jesse White settle in up forward where he also belongs. It has been well stated by Paul Roos that big fellows need time to mature and develop. Also Longmire should be looking at playing 2 ruckmen as Geelong did in the grand final. Look at the success when the Swans played 2 ruckmen and I don't mean having ruckman as the substitute player (re fiasco round 1 against Melbourne). I personally can't wait to see both Mumford and Pyke working in tandem.

I would be putting Jesse up for trade and I have my doubts about Seaby. Why does everyone forget Pyke who was having a stellar year before his injury. Take a look at his game against Dogs in Canberra. Can take a grab kick a goal and is a fiercesome defender.

          I like Pyke.

          White to play permanent FF.

The only issue is the SPANG.

If you go with that setup you end up with:

          Spanger Reid XXXXX
          Pyke White XXXXX

Which is a pretty tall forward line....might work???
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Spanger and Reid play more lead up roles, Reid in particular looks more like he'll be this type of forward ( a Nick riewoldt type who provides the conduit into the forward line). Thats not to deny his awesome pack marking ability, or to say he wont kick goals, but i just think this is the type of role he is best suited to. He needs to be slightly up field in the game more( i guess a traditional sort of CHF) rather than in a stay at home type forward role. With him and Spang providing the tall option for the get out kick on the flanks/ wings, that leaves White and Pykey to man handle some opponents in the F50, at best clunk some marks and have shots on goal, and at worst crash some bodies and spill some crumbs for our smalls. If they are all clunking them like we know they can ( and in Jesse's case, hope he can ) , aerial dominance could be a a major strength of ours next year. It sounds good in theory..............

With contested marks being all the rage again, size + mobility is going to be key, particularly forward and back. Pyke would fit the 2nd ruckman mould perfectly IMO. Not so sure about Seabs, as much as I rate him. I see not problem with White being left up forward to develop, although it might be better if he'd had a year in the 2s playing there perhaps. Reid, White and Spangher can complement each other well enough if we have a small forward or two, a la McGlynn & TDL to work off them. Pyke's injury this season was such a shame, as he was looking very good when he went down.

While there may be questions about Jolly's fitness etc. etc. It does suggest that the "experts" who spent this season trumpeting the impossibility of playing 2 ruckmen wouldn't know there arse from there elbow!!!!!!!!!
You could take this argument further: three of the top four teams played two ruckmen. I don't think it was incidental to their success.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
