I agree Captain, Dwayne Russell is worse than a takeaway coffee from a Chinese restaurant. (I love there food but....)

Rubbish, he showed plenty against Adelaide, and should never have been dropped. Prior to that game he was the sub on 2 other occasions, which made it very difficult to judge him at senior level.

nah he's doing research for the new product the "Womans Weekly Extreme World Discovery tours" and knowing GS quite well, he will be taking a lot of snaps on the box brownie and having a few "medicinal" warming beverages along the way - just so as he fits in - aint that right GS???

hannebery goes so unnoticed at times he is an absolute GUN. he wins all the in and under ball, feeds it off to our running midfielders, chases hard, tackles. does everything. Also how key it is to have a ruckman who can work around the ground, present, take marks and actually kick is vital and we have that in mumford. god bless xoxoxo
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

They don't count those deft hand taps off the ground and shovel outs and where he puts his body over the ball a split second before his opponent. His form in the last month has gone to another level. He runs all day and backs up incredibly well.

Some real positives in Parker and in Reid playing well and kicking a bit better for goal, hopefully this will give him a bit of confidence to nail the goals.

Sadly whilst watching the game I was frustrated by our turnovers and poor kicking at times, Gold Coast really were flat and our performance was not impressive overall despite being a 70 point win. But it is something to build on, lets get back into good form for september!!

I think Keiran Jack is warming up, he is hugely important for us.

Ryan O'Keefe needs to be a bit more creative when winning the ball out of the centre doesn't he? We tend to do pretty well when Jack or Goodes gets it, less so when Ryan bombs it high 35 metres.

Lastly, pet hate of mine is when a ruckman takes a great mark and immediately handpasses backwards to a nearby midfielder who is quickly under pressure, bombs it long to a contest and the ball is turned over. It happens in almost every game, not just ours. I get it if you are Leunberger (sorry for the spelling) and can't kick to save your life but Mumford is a good kick, so is Seaby.

On the game; When Ablett went off we were essentially playing a team of kids. In the context of the Suns season our 70 point win was a pretty good margin. Apart from the ongoing goal kicking woes (and it's not the yips) what irked me about our game was the times when a player had made space 20 metres on their own we kicked it over their head. A couple were in the middle of the ground with an open forward line and ended in turnovers. Others clubs would have made us pay dearly. Simple basic skills like this, and McVeigh's inability to hit a player on the chest, when he is free and under relatively no pressure and the leading player is metres in front, beggars belief. I thought McGlynn was very ordinary with a 47% efficiency. He was knocked off the ball easily and slaughters the ball by foot. I can't help think that the big hit he got last year has had a big affect on the way he is playing.

Conversely both Reid and Johnson are the same age as most of the Suns players yet appear to be well ahead on development of many of them. It appears the weight given to "high" draft picks by the Suns could be seen as a convenient recruiting strategy. I wonder how our boys would be performing if they played for the Suns. Our recruiters have got these 2 and Parker very right. Someone on here had a question on Johnson but lets not forget he is only 18.

I agree in part on ROK. I don't have a problem with him getting his boot to the ball from a centre bounce rather than the opposition getting the clearance, it is more when he is clear that he often takes the wrong option or has poor delivery. He took a handpass from Kennedy last night then kicked it to I think Moore who had 3 players in his vicinity, and it was easily spoiled and taken away when he had the Reid option, who was firing on all cylinders at the top of the square. He is not the only one as this seems to be a regular flaw in our game. When you have Reid and Goodes in the 30 metre region against undersized players is it not a no brainer to take that option? It is the job of the smalls to play to work around them.

On TV we got a great shot of a goal to the Suns. The pack went up about 20-30 metres from goal, Jack was at the back of the pack but right at their feet rather than 3 to 4 metres off. The ball went off the pack, over his head, picked up for a goal. There was no Swans players in or near the goal square.

shattering good shot nich. talk about contested mark!!! I love my wingspanned man, can't call him albatross, what other bird has got a wingspan like Sam?

Good point re the kids' fitness levels Nico. Maybe having the older teammates to show the way all the time is the key. And AJ is still only 18. Sheesh I keep forgetting that! And Luke. Sam's different though, he's 19 now.....
