AJ really is the pleasant surprise of 2011 for me though...
Yeah, we have a strong backline all of a sudden, and he is a big factor, though he still has time to mature so it's not as bad as Heppel's pressure. It's the only part of the ground I'm quite confident in. Mids are getting there slowly however the forward line is a dogs breakfast. Reid etc and the actual setup/game plan will come in time. Just not fast enough for us all !

Not sure there was a suggestion that AJ would / could win the award. Just a comment that it would be nice for him to get a nomination before season is up.

You would think that the winner will come from amongst Smith, Heppell, or Shuey. Possibly Swallow is still in with a shot.

Swallow has stepped it up a bit in the last few weeks which is good as he's in my DreamTeam... as is Heppell... I guess a lot depends on how they run out the season from here but I think it's between those two....

AJ's gotta get a nomination soon though? Please??

AJ does deserve a nomination for his consistant performabces, but I doubt backmen win these awards any more than they win Brownlows. Reid stands a better chance as he takes those crashing pack marks that get noticed, as well as playing up the field a bit when necessary. Parker just hasn't played enough full games, and although I thought his game against GC was great, its not like playing Geelong or Collingwood and getting those numbers

Reid needs to kick a couple of goals but I can't see him beating the 3 mentioned. Shuey is my choice.

Shuey will win, Heppell second. Daylight then the rest.

I think Sam Reid would have polled the most votes for the round.

After watching the replay this afternoon, the administration should be extending Parker's contract by another 3 years right now.

To me, even allowing for the quality of the opposition, watching Parker's game was like watching the game Hannabery played against North last year where you just went - whoa, what have we got here?!

Hanna's was arguably finer as he effectively won it for us - and we'd already seen a bit more of him - but you get the point that we knew we have a bit more than just a good player

Nah. Unless Sammy has a few blinders in the run home, I'm pretty sure it's Heppell or Zac Smith's to lose. Shane Savage another smokey along with Swallow and Shuey as mentioned.
