Dont be a funsponge. Obviously the coaches and staff know more, we're just having fun.

This multiple captain thing is really annoying me, I dont really see the point, takes away from the uniqueness and respect of a captain IMO.

It's no different to any other thread on this site; it's just an outlet for our opinions. So yes, there is a point.

Obviously there's a lot more to consider in choosing an AFL captain than what happens on the field, but i definitelythink that should be probably the biggest factor in who the captain is. I dont mean it should be the best player, but the player who always has a crack, can lift his side, is inspirational.

Toughness, unrelenting effort, and hardness at the contest are three things i associate with some of the best captains i've seen ( Kirky, PK, , M. Voss.) . I dont think our two, as much as i like them as players, really epitomise those characteristics as well as i would hope the captain(s) of our club, with its Bloods culture, should.

Jude, IMO, should have been made sole captain last year, until he chose to retire, then passed it onto one of the younger brigade ( Jack, Smith, Mummy, Kennedy)

I say look to the future and the future revolves around Jack, give Goodes and Bolton the freedom to play, although both, and maybe more so Bolton deserves the captaincy

For the long term - Jack. I think Goodes would be better without having to carry the captaincy responsibilities....

At least McVeigh sounds like a leader in today's press:

Still, I don't think he's really up to it. If Jude's past it, they may as well try Jack and let Goodes go back to focusing on the mid-field - and practice his goal-kicking.

The 3rd quarter brain fade would not have happened with Kirky or Kelly out there. We took forever to refocus and the damage was done. Both captains failed dismally IMO.

Watching the game yesterday i thought both Captains were fairly useless. Both stood up in the last quarter but unfortunately as captain we need a 4 quarter effort even if you can't get the nut. I will say that on looking at the stats i give McVeigh some credit for his 12 tackles. I'm a well known Goodes basher and on yesterdays effort i will continue to do so. Our lack of leadership is a real problem. Someone had to make a stand in the third.

Time has beaten Jude, but he would have been a very good captain,so that's my choice. Lack of leadership out there is obvious; Adam is a great leader, but not a great captain; Jarod is a good leader, but again not a natural captain. Maybe next year. Stuart was all at sea his first year; turned into a champion captain. But....Macca is not Stuey.

Of the rest of them; don't think Kiz would want the job yet. Joey may be ideal one day. Rhyce actually would make a good captain, he is an organiser of men, but whether a great club representative I don't know. But worth considering.

My best captain would be Doggy. I know, its a pity he is not a GREAT player but by golly he is a terrific captain in reserves, and that takes some doing, with the combination of players he has to handle. He is a great organiser and encourager.

Put Sam and AJ down for the future and Nick Smith, and Dan Hannerbery in the leadership group in a couple of years.

I feel part of the reason the ressies do so well is Bulldog's influence as captain. And that is not to take any credit away from Henry, he is doing a wonderful job with them but once on field Bulldog's leadership shows up everytime I get to watch them.

How good would it be for Jude to be our captain at this stage of his career, while he is playing such great footy

So many votes for Just Goodes... I'm bemused. My ultimate would be Jack, he seems to lift the boys whenever he is out there. Yet he won't captain any time soon, with Goodes looking fit enough to play for another two years probably.

I am a fan of McVeigh though, I think we should just give him time to settle into the role.
