People who support our club will bitch all week about the umpires but we only have ourselves to blame in the end.

Where was that 4th quarter intensity and passion in the first 3 quarters?

You can't play 1 good quarter of footy and expect to win. Our 3rd quarter was nothing short of disgraceful.

It was a throw. But there are forty or fifty incorrect disposals in the quarter in the wet. Further the whole approach of the afl has ben to encourage players dropping the ball to move it on. How do you focus othat one and not on the other forty or fifty ? This is the problem with umpiring which is so inconsistent.

The facts are we did the stupid things that gave Razor the opportunity to make the calls he did. For 3 quarters we played DUMB suburban footy and Ballantyne did a terrific job of sucking us in all day and the players who should know better fell for it.

Really really disappointing effort Swannies, one of the worst performances iv'e seem in the last 50 years.

I agree aardvark. We need to focus on why we can only play with intensity when teams switch off against us (collingwood, Carlton, fremantle). The coaching staff needs to focus on this now.

But they still should nonetheless complain to the umpiring department. We lost because of our stupidity, in particular tadgh being beaten pathetically in a one on one and then pretending he didn't know what he was doing.

But the umpires killed us. And they should not be allowed to get away with that.

              Well said Robbo.

+1.. I think Benny has come under a lot more attention from other teams in recent weeks..He is/was our leading goal kicker.. Last year, he was largely left unchecked..

I think the intensity was being sucked up by stupid 100m penalties - they're being given out like lollies. You know there's a problem with the rules when no-one knowswhat he hell the free was for or when you are penalised for being first and hardest at the ball.

                  Unfortunately it was a throw.

Some great efforts by McVeigh, Goodes, Hanners, Parker to give them a sniff of victory. Was very exciting until Kennelly stuffed up, he seems to operate at glacier speed these days.
Would have been an amazing victory, but Dockers too good today. They are really enthusiastic.

We are just playing badly. The forwards are going missing as usual, Jetta was brought on too late, defenders are making stupid mistakes, Horse has been far too defensive from the beginning (eg playing O'Keefe as a tagger)...
This is very different to other games. I have not blamed the umpires all year. Totally blatant today.Predicted it in the second quarter that we would be crucified. Second half proved it. Statistically significant and obvious. Bias should be a concern for the AFL in this time of gambling on football. The microscope should be put on the umpires much more than the players. Undeserved Victory by Freo. Total gift.

Can't blame umpires - but it's hard not all the time.

I am now convinced that the AFL is an engineered comp. The game has so many interpretations and loose rules that it's not hard for an umpire to sway a result. The game is officiated on such an inconsistent level for one not to be cynical.

What really irks me is it's so transparent but fans will be back next week and go through the whole stupidity of watching this code again.

Apart from that - we are going downhill.

Nup. Today was just a major brain fade. Things will only get better IMO.

Not questioning his endeavour, but his output has definitely declined after a very strong start.

Just a minute some of you....yes we had a poor 3rd, but the opposition (Cannot speak their rotten name) had pretty poor quarter in this game as well! It WAS the umpires who caused this travesty from the very first few minutes...no idea why but have my suspicions....

Agree, pretty blatant after the Pies players were pinged for gambling this week. It seems that the ones pulling the strings think that the Pies players would be a smokescreen. Big mistake, its the other way around. There should be an official enquiry into today's game.
