McGlynn's kamikazee attack on the ball all game not enough? He, Parker and Hanners were the only ones throwing their bodies about for all 4 quarters without caution. No way he goes out.

I agree totally. I think it is the experienced players who need to take a good look at themselves this week. I will name them, Goodes (1 &1/2 Quarters), McVeigh (2 & 1/2 t0 3 Quarters), Ryano (2 & 1/2 Quarters), Kennelly (1Quarter & multiple stuff ups, too slow too many times), Mattner so brave but tried to do too much & his player got free, Mal dissappeared for long periods but was better than most of our experienced lot, LRT presented & played quite well but not a ruckman & never will be, Grundy was good, very good in hard circumstances, Teddy was steady.

Who played well; Parker, Hannas, Benny (tried all day, got to do something about that bouncy chest though), Kanga (delivery @@@@e), LRT, Mattner, Grunds & AJ (tried hard all day & did his bit).

I thought when we were being cut up by Fyfe he should have been given the job, a good challenge for the lad & would have shown some confidence in him.

I posted my changes before that news came out. Maybe change sumner with nipper or keep bird in. I know nipper plays forward but I think we already have enough defenders in our team.
            Out: Jesse and Tadgh
            In: TDL/Spangher and Jude

Maybe Bird out and Nipper in. Really depends on the match ups horse wants and if he wants to give bird a hard tag on someone.

That's my concern as well. Very good as a ruckman but as a forward not so much. Pyke is the one we need back who proved he can be dangerous up forward and is a decent tap ruckman.

That is three of the top side, oh I forgot you mentioned the West Coast Eagles, that makes the top 4. We have been sucked into the "you can't play 2 rucks" trap as we were doing very well with two last year.
You can't seriously compare Carlton, West Coast and Collingwood to us surely? Kreuzer, Natanui and Cox all offer substantially more around the ground than Seaby ever can. Kreuzer carved us up when we played the Blues with 24 posessions and looked more like a tall midfielder. Leigh Brown was the prototype pinch hitter in the ruck and provides a great mix of pinch hitting in the ruck and playing a utilitty role either forward or back. It doesn't matter whether he plays in the goal square or a pocket, what matters is that he offers as much or nearly as much in that position as the next best alternative. In contrast, Seaby can play ruck, ruck or ruck - he is a good ruck man but offers little anywhere else on the field.

Hawthorn is the only team that you could argue are playing two classic ruckmen and even then Hale kicked three last game and has kicked 7 in the last 4 weeks so still offers a fair bit up front.

He's fine as the number one ruckman but with the sub-rule, I think he lacks the versatility to be the 2nd ruckman. If it was 2010 it wouldn't be an issue but with the new rule, I think his opportunities are going to be limited.
That was Seabs first game back wasn't it? Mummy has been a lot rusty as was Seabs in that game. Mummy might have got a lot of h/o's but around the ground he didn't do much. That is lack of match fitness. I think play Seabs as first ruck & Mummy more as a forward or give em 50/50, the other option as a shock is to put the 2 og them in the centre square together, such fun as Seabs does the ruck & Mummy mows em down.

Hampson until this season was seen as a very ordinary 2nd ruck & thought not to get a game until Kruiser was injured & took the opportunity & hasn't looked back. Mummy is All Australian quality & if we have Seabs or Pykie or Currie the latter two can kick goals it is better than LRT not winning one ruck contest or only one or two for the whole game. Cox & Nik Nat are freaks but Brown was seen as a very ordinary player at North & reinvented himself at the Pies, lost a lot of weight. I have been trying to get stats from the official website but can't so they must be updating them, to see just how many possies Seabs had in his last two games & how many marks. He took two beauties, both contested in his last. By the was Seabs has kicked 71 goals in 121 games & John Worsfold didn't encourage Seabs to go forward, using him almost completely as a defensive ruckman. By the way has is a very good set shot for goal.

The last 3 weeks he played Seaby's possession count was 2, 12 and 14, and he took 8 marks nothing to get me too excited there. From what I can see we have played two rucks 5 times (twice Pyke, 3 times Seaby) for an average 8 posessions out of the second ruckman.

Brown's previous form makes no difference, what matters is what has made him successful and it is the ability to justify a field position but to also pinch hit in the ruck.

I understand that he wasn't played as a forward while at West Coast but I don't understand why 71 goals in 121 games (or 2 in 7 this season) is a good haul or is enough to suggest that Seaby is a forward (nor am I hearing much from the ressies about a swag of goals). Pyke may offer enough to classify as a player that can justify a forward position independently but I can't see how offers enough to get a game when Mumford (who you mention is All Australian level and surely can't be dropped) is in the side.

I have thought all year that we should do with Seaby what the Wet Toast has done with Lynch. Plonk him up forward and tell him to get his body in front of his opponent and he can take a grab and can generally kick straight. He would be better than having Jane White up there.

Horse indicated in todays interview the the inclusion of Bolton will be the only change this week.
I really hope he's just playing ducks and drakes. But I doubt it, that's not his form.
If the only change is Jude, then passengers like Kennelly and White will, unbelievably, get another run?????

We only had seven fit players by the end of the reserves game and three of those are still on the rookie list and hence need elevation before being selected. Tdl unfortunately lacks fitness and if Moore or Bevan were brought in I'm sure there'll be plenty of objections

Jude for Jesse sounds right to me.

If Jude is the only change then it'd be him for Jesse I imagine. Goodes to play up forward more to compensate with Jude returning in the middle.

I want Goodes to just stay in the middle, but that's my prediction.
