Byron has personal issues he is sorting out - they can't select him if he's not in Sydney

There has been very specific reasons why TDL hasn't been selected - he was recovering from injury/building up his fitness in the first half of the season (which is why he had to be subbed off in each game he played - wasn't match fit) and then he has had a foot injury. Apart from the fact that he hardly set the world on fire when he did come back in, TDL will come back in when he is going to be able to contribute properly to the team - TDL from the end of 2010 is not where he is right now.

Great goal kicker and key mid???Maybe they will be but not yet.

Remember TDL was going to play against the Suns until he injured himself and as a result hasn't played for 3 weeks. The only question I'd ask Horse was if TDL was fit last week why didn't he play the Ressies condidering he hadn't played for 2 weeks.

Wolftone: Just some things that have occurred tell me something is wrong & most of it is atmosphere. There is a really wrong atmosphere about the Swans this year, something is wrong & no-one is talking about it. Byron going home stinks of something wrong & I have asked the club to clarify the situation for the fans.

With Kirk and Roos gone I havent heard much mention of the Bloods culture. Personally I dont think thats such a bad thing, but with a new coach and captains that seem to be feeling their way, I do wonder too what we are aiming at?

I don't know what is going on, but as a Swan supporter for many years, this is the first time I have been so bored watching our team play.

The Collingwood match I loved watching, we were up and running and moving the ball so quickly, it was great, I never even minded them losing that game because I just enjoyed the way they played it, I was hoping that was a benchmark, but then we just back to our stop start football

Byron has had issues before and because this is a personal issue the club isn't going to clarify the situation. It shouldn't either. I'm not around the club 24/7 but the times I have been around I haven't sensed any issues with atmosphere.

This is becoming so tiresome and, to be honest, boring. Were you run over by a horse when you were a kid? (Sorry, the posts indicate you are still a kid) It would be great to read a thread somewhere without this constant negative, uninformed tripe from the same group of snipers.

I largely support this post. it is simply too early to tell where we are going but the idea that tdl is the second coming of the messiah and that horse is some pharisee who cant see it is ridiculous.

for crying out loud we are aiming at finals and the development of a list that can compete with the top teams without being uncompetitive for four years to get there. three weeks ago everyons was raving about the under 25 side we've developed.

Did you ask for clarification after the club had issued a statement claiming Byron was going back home for personal reasons and the club was supporting him in getting through these personal issues???

I guess you did, otherwise like the rest of us, you wouldn't have known what had happened to Byron.

Anyway, I hope they told you to go @@@@ yourself...

TDL ain't the messiah but the kid can kick goals. Showed last year that he was a pretty quick learner, I thought all he needs is a few games under the belt and he would adapt. Others have been afforded the same opportunity.

I just cant see the "selection thread from week to week. eg Moore last week emergency, goes on to be BOG in ressies - then not even listed as possible emergency this week in the wet ??

Have a listen to Longmire on the Swans website. TDL would be in the side if he hadn't got injured. He hasn't played at any level for three weeks and from all reports he has a pretty ordinary tank so that wouldn't have done him any good. I'm not sure what's hard to understand about that?

I should have left out quoting the Wolftones Byron thang. Thats personal and fine. But I have no interest in patching up a team to be lower end finals fodder yet again for the 5th year running playing desperately messy football. I am thrilled that we have played so many new guys but especially our forwards need to feel trusted for the long term (injuries frustrating).

What would you prefer us to do? There's not too many high draft picks with GWS (and the Gold Coast last year if you're suggesting we should've tanked then) so there's no point in going to the bottom to re-build. We're attempting to re-build our list while remaining competitive at the same time.

Most flag teams have a few years of 'making up the numbers' in the finals before they seriously challenge. It doesn't happen overnight.

We've been spoilt over the last decade IMO and some people clearly expect too much.

Agree in part Plugger - but why then last week would you name him as an emergency - and not play him at all. Considering he also had the previous week off due to injury. If his tank was the issue why would you potentially play him, not get up some game time in the 2's - and potentially again this week.

I cant see the logic in that.
