Oh! By the way I'm doing a BA in Writing so that makes me an academic I think & I did have the spell check working this time. Don't undermine my intelligence nor doubt the veracity of my words. I have always said Horse was a mistake as coach & will stick by that!! I have never believed in handing someone the reigns of a good thing on a platter. The position is always better if a person has to fight for it. When Roos came to the position there was talk the club was going to appoint Terry Wallace but due to overwhelming concern from the supporters they appointed Roos. He had a fight on his hands therefore had to prove himself...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Probably Al! I will say that I believe that everyone should earn their position & prove themselves even then. I get exceedingly angry when other people ride on the shirtsleeves of other peoples success and then get easy promotion because of it. This is a problem with our modern world that if someone was part of a success then he/she is going to be a success. This is not necessarily so as many people who are on the shirt-strings of success don't ever come up to the same standards as their mentors. There is something you feel when you look at a Sheedy, Roos, Worsfold, Matthews, Jeans, Kennedy, Barrassi or a Mick! It is awe! Long before they won premierships all of them had that certain something, they were Awful in the true sense of the word! They inspire men to great deeds, does John do that? I would go out on a field of battle & die for a Barrassi & co but I wouldn't do it for John.Comment

Or if you spent half a dozen years as an assistant to that position, you would decline the promotion on the same grounds.
Honestly. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Could you elaborate? The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

This is an internet forum therefore I feel I can honestly tell you all that I have been following the Swans since 1922 and I have a PhD in AFL from Oxford. Do not disregard my words or attempt to diminish my stance when I say that Horse should get another year to really settle in.
Whether he was handed the job or not, he still has to prove himself every game and will be evaluated at season's end just like any other coach. Being appointed without contest hardly means he has a secure seat for as long as he chooses. Plus, it is ridiculous to think he is any less hungry for success because he didn't beat out 2 or 3 other candidates.
In fact, the more I apply my vast intellect to the topic, the less I think wolftone57 has a point.Comment

Am hearing one more late change- Out: Teddy In: StellaI knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Interesting to read these opinions on Longmire.
I still think if Mick Malthouse becomes available, we should seriously consider hiring him. His track record speaks for itself and he'd guarantee us a much higher media profile in Sydney.Comment
