I've got a post graduate degree, have written 20 books, have photographs of myself with Sir Edmund Hillary, the Dalai Lama and Jackson Browne (but not all together sadly) and I've met Annie and Primmy and Big Al - and Scott let me sit alongside him at a game once. And I don't have a clue how we get the team motivated to win this one. I think a start would be kicking to a forward who kicks the goal. I'm just hoping one player standing up (Goodes, McGlynn, Jude?) will get the team going and the season back on track.

I think if it wasn't for Barry's last game at the SCG (which might pull a few people to the game), this will be one of the most poorly attended games in awhile. No casual supporter is going to rock up tomorrow in this weather. I feel so sorry for the Operations/Marketing Dept. this year. They can't take a trick.

Swans website just posted "The Game Plan", which is generally a good read.

Except this week, it's all about the Dogs and barely mentions a plan. Wonder if they have one?Comment

Should be low crowd though because of the rain.
Why feel sorry for the Operations/marketing dept? Do they only get paid for games on sunny days?In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

Repetitive weakness in a players performance means the coach is failing to get that player to respond or else is not trying hard enough. Repetitive poor team work from a team means the game plan is not working and the game day coaching is not working.Once again its the coach.
If you are prepared to take the big salary, take the accolades when we win then you must be prepared for wearing the criticism when we lose particularly if the loss is due to repeated poor performance from the same players. Coaching is tough! No one is saying its not but the coaches must be held accountable for their responsibility ,the same as the players.
How do we know if the coach is doing their job.? Just watch the game,it soon becomes obvious.Comment

Totally disagree. It's always the coaches fault and if they are trying to remedy it then they are failing. At AFL level you are dealing with highly motivated professional athletes. They want to succeed but need a coach to weld them as a unit. You can sing the praises of individual players eg Parker ,criticise others eg Kennelly for their efforts in the game so you can surely criticise the person responsible for getting these professionals acting as a unit. Coaches must be accountable along with the players. Who is to blame if the team is not working as a unit? The water boy?

I'm happy overall with the coaching this year. Trying things - some work some don't. New jobs take time to learn. Didn't some analysis find that the coach contribtes about 20% to team success - if it were the only thing then you might expect North and Geelong to be about the same place on the ladder.Comment

Bart would not be foolish enough to select a draught horse to run. Our players list this year is good and an exciting mix of youth and experience. A top 4 spot was not an unrealistic possibility. We showed what we could do against Collingwood when we changed the tired old game plan of the Roos era and kicked out over the Collingwood press. Although the game day coaching that day was slow ,in the end it was basic mistakes of the experienced players that lost us that game. My point is when the coaches do their job and the players respond ,we are a force to be reckoned with.Comment

Remember all of the Swans-love after the Collingwood match? Everyone was saying how much we enjoyed watching us kick long and we were hearalding it as a new dawn for the game plan as well as the club. Admittedly, we have had a lot of wet games since, but did the coaching staff lose their notes on the train or something since?Comment
