And if he does, I am sure Port or Brisbane or Gold Coast or Richmond would gladly take him in the PSD. Chances of a moderately talented key forward lasting until our pick in the PSD are very low. And generally players don't like to screw over the clubs they are departing by walking out for nothing (something we benefitted from when ROK elected to stay after a trade to a Melbourne club couldn't be arranged).

Wow. Just wow. Has to be trolling.

I don't see the club trading LJ, too much promise for a guy who hasn't had a chance due to injury.

I don't see what all the hubbub is over Walker - I mean, he's a good size and has shown the ability to kick goals, but hasn't actually been all that consistent in his career so far. That's not to say that he wouldn't be a good addition though.

That's hardly true. I never said LJ didn't have clear talent or a beautiful kick, but the reality is that his trade value (externally perceived as much as anything) is very low. There is no way you can deny that. At this stage I can't see him filling any KPP roles and instead he's looking like a third tall option to me. Also, the fact that he can't break into our forwardline which is in desperate need of some firepower is indicative enough I think of his limitations at this stage.

Walker would be an awesome aquisition if he was capable of playing as the second forward to Reid. Unfortunately he isnt as evidenced by his poor form when Tippett plays and he is relegated to second fiddle.

I wouldnt be keen for us to give up much.

          Maybe Jesse + our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks.

Or just our 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I think they can just have Jesse full stop even if we didn't get a trade for him.

But probably LJ + a draft pick would be the logical trade. Being a South Australian and from what i've heard from people in Port Pirie who know him he is bit of a mummies boy he would probably enjoy playing in Adelaide

Its spot on in my view. Ask yourself why GWS were said to be so interested in him and rumoured to be offering $700k - haven't heard that level of interest bandied around for any Swans player.

Walker is 21, has played 40 games for 76 goals. Comparisons to an injury prone Johnston who has played 2 games and kicked 1 goal are laughable. LJ may turn out to be great and I hope he does but don't expect a lot of trade value from him beating up on NEAFL teams. Similarly for Sumner.....

I unfortunately have to suffer through watching the Adelaide Cows a fair bit and can report that Walkers best games are when Adelaide is on top but he goes missing an awful lot, particularly if the Cows are getting done.

Ask yourself why he yo yos between the Cows and his SANFL side Norwood?

Every time a player is trying to get a new contract, their manager floats the idea that the Swans are keen. It's an old trick that grabs Melbourne media attention.

So do we want Walker? Maybe, but I wouldn't be paying overs for a patchy performer and I reckon the Cows will want more than he is worth.

Also don't over rate what our players are worth to other clubs, particularly fringe or developing players.

Have we got enough beer in Sydney for him?

Perhaps he's done with drinking West End and wants an upgrade.

Not much spare beer out west as the locals consume it all.

I think as the first thread or another said that he is out of contract at then end of this year and it's probably another player coming to Sydney scenario all over again.

Personally I wouldn't be giving up LJ. He just needs some luck with injuries and his career will take off. Also to me he's more of a half back flanker pushing to a wing type player.

Maybe Jesse and a first rounder for Walker but I'd say the Crows will want blood.

Anyway this could all be a ruse to push his contract price up. Not that the Swans have been used like that before.

The crows may want blood but they won't get it. If he really wants out he will walk into the PSD and they get nothing. The problem they have is no one wants to play with either SA team or live in Adelaide ATM unless they are locals and even some of the locals want out.

problem with walker and tippet in the same forward line is they are both lead up FF's..with the crows seemingly favouring Tippet to fill that slot.
Sammy Reid IMO is being groomed and more suited as that mobile athletic CHF. Not big bodied enough for me as a lead up FF.
Walker is only going to get bigger and stronger and a club like ours will be great for him. Craig was by all accounts very dictorial and not very flexible, where as we know the swans like to empower the players to reach their potential.
So with GWS taking Davis, us with the spare salary cap and sumner wanting to go home could be a good trade scenerio...Sumner + 2nd round pick + 4th round...as some have mentioned he is uncontracted so we have a bit more bargaining power and generally in the PSD clubs wont take a player who has expressed his desire to go to another club, ala Ball, bradshaw in the last few years....

Walker is a 21 year old key forward. How many 21 year old key forwards never go missing? And saying he goes missing when the Crows are getting done is ridiculous. He does marginally worse when they're doing badly, and that's fair enough. A FF's output is a pretty strong indicator of how well a team is going. When the midfield isn't getting ball, it's hard for a FF to get involved.

Walker averages 2.2 goals per victory, as opposed to 1.9 per game overall. To put that in perspective for you, this year Jack Riewoldt averages 4 goals per victory, as opposed to 2.9 overall. In 2010, he averaged 4.8 goals per victory, as opposed to 3.5 overall. It's the same for any key forward, particularly in struggling teams. You want to know our very own Sam Reid's breakdown? 1.3 goals per victory, as opposed to 0.8 overall. He has kicked a grand total of 2 goals in our losses.

I think you're going a little hard on him.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

That suggests to me that someone is pushing his barrow. Is this the new method of promoting a player's value?
