Hell, I can almost understand tanking for pick 1 or a priority pick when finals are out of the question. But tanking to get a pick a few places higher when you could have played finals? @@@@. That. @@@@. Especially when you consider that this year our first rounder will be tied up with Tom Mitchell anyway, so the only difference would be a few places in the second round and beyond, which makes almost no difference at all.

    Excuse the excessive swearing.
Completely agree, I don't understand the tanking mentality at all.

I felt like that a few times this year. I really want to play Freo & Carlton as well : )

Pffft. For reasons already covered by Panttz and Liz.

Not to mention that a lot of Swans fans like to actually watch our team play as many games as we can get in a season.

I have no interest in higher draft picks, always want to make the finals.

However I hope we get ourselves on track with goal kicking especially, because finals experience is always good - unless you get embarrased in one.

How is playing in a high, intensity game in front of a huge crowd not beneficial to our players? One final is always better than none!

It could be suggested that Essendon's 2009 Elimination final humiliation in Adelaide actually set them back. However, I do subscribe to the theory that finals are always (generally) a good thing.

Mind you, not sure North got much out of the 19K crowd we served up a few years ago at ANZ haha

i did the ladder predictor and this is where i had the finish up of the season

                  Collingwood 20-0-2 80
                  Geelong 19-0-3 76
                  Hawthorn 18-0-4 72
West Coast 16-0-6 64 (pains me to put them there, but they have a good draw)
Carlton 14-1-7 58 (not that a good draw in the run home compared to others)
Sydney 12-1-9 50 (Provided we win what we should win and that loss on the weekend should stir the fire in the belly)
North 11-0-11 (i reckon they will beat Saints and a good run home)
Fremantle 11-0-11 (tough run relying on others to loose)
Saints 10-1-11 (toughest run home i reckon, if they 2 from 4 they will jump freo)
Bombers 10-1-11 (have the bye and tough run)
                  Demons
                  Dogs
                  Crows
                  Tigers
                  Suns
                  Lions
                  Port

and those who want draft picks ahead of finals appearances hang your heads in shame. Swans have more finals appearances than any other team, it is why we are battle hardened when it comes finals time.
Commentators always say you dont want to face the swans in the finals.
Finals appearances in yngr players is more valuable than 22 rounds

No need to excuse the swearing BSA5. Trouble is, there probably wasn't enough swearing in it. Maybe you will get it right next time.

Exactly. We would be a good chance of winning in week 1. I bet the people who supported the club from 1946-1995 when we didn't win a single final would agree too.

Tanking when you're already 7th and GWS are coming in, haha what a joke.

We will need to win 3 of the last 4, which is doable, but we really need to beat St Kilda, we shouldn't have too much trouble with Tigers and Lions (touch wood), if we do win those three we will most likely play Saints again at the same venue and have a good chance at winning that game. Tanking or looking for draft picks is ludicrous and not what the Swans are about, given the concesions GWS have ove rthe next 2 years, we best look at trades for our 4 changes at years end. You never know in finals, Judd falls over or Cats run out of puff, lot of old blokes there, you just never know what can happen

Nich you forgot Norf and Demons. I posted their last rounds on the game day thread.

If Demons can click for next 3 weeks, they have the easiest run of all the teams.

The Swans can't make it on yesterday's performance. However, you'll read all the usual crap through the media this week about spirit etc etc.
