I'd be very happy to have a good distributor who doesn't simply blaze away with Hail Mary kicks. In addition, I only saw the one game from Mitchell (coincidentally, it was the same one that the highlights were taken from) and must confess that I saw a good in and under player much in the mould of Cresswell, but didnt see a game-breaker. He accumulated possessions really well, but they were nearly all handballs as part of a link or extracting from a pack - this is all great stuff, but is seems to be a distributor, not a game breaker (yes, I know that Diesel was a distributor as well (see what I did there?)). I just have to trust those who have seen a lot more of Mitchell but I am personally not as excited as maybe I could be.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. Lake was in dispute with Nathan Eagleton and I think some other players over a failed childcare centre business. The matter is supposedly resolved but wouldn't surprise if Lake wanted to get out of Footscray.I will fuel the rumour fire by saying that I have heard some veiled comments in the media about business dealings between Lake and some teammates. Apparently they went sour and Lake has been less than popular with the others because of his attitude afterwards. Having said that, I thought we were looking for a FF, not a FB?The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

Yeah, I think that is ringing a few bells for me. Still, my point remains that we really need someone at the other end of the ground.Comment

For the love of god, I wish the selectors would see that Jetta causes more damage than good. A simple handball under little pressure on the weekend would have given a player a shot on goal, but it missed the target by a good 2 metres. He dropped several easy marks and not to mention the fact that he isnt strong enough to hold a tackle. I am sick of him always getting in on his 'pace'. We may as well be playing one man down whenever he is on the field. Bring in someone like Gordon, who has skill and who really has a crack at the contest; unlike Jetta who waits for the ball to come to him and the fumbles until he turns it over again.Comment

Bit over the top imo. Our captain missed 2 easy goals and incredibly doesn't know the rules of the game so any angst like this should be directed at him. The only way Jetta will be dropped is if he didn't carry out what the coaches wanted from him. I didn't think he was that bad on Sat night but wouldn't be against Jetta having a spell in the 2's if he needs it.For the love of god, I wish the selectors would see that Jetta causes more damage than good. I've seen a fair bit of Nipper this year and is one of my favourites in the Ressies. He's close to another call up I would say...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. I understand Plugger missed a goal once. And didn't Kell stuff up a pass in the 1996 Grannie? Fairly sure Dunks couldn't kick. Kirky was a bit too slow to play really. MickyO shouldn't have been in the team because his legs were crap. Stuey shouldn't have been made captain because he was too reserved to speak to media with any enthusiasm. Leo kept giving away frees, so don't know why we had him in our team. As for Buchanan, ok so he did kick the goal that put us in front in 2005, but other than that what use was he.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I know I've said this over and over...but let me say it again. the problem there was jude's decision making. Now heres no pressure. he takes a mark in the centre square. No-one within cooee of him. and he kicks it to THE MOST DANGEROUS SPOT on the field from there - a 25 metre chip to a leading mumford who was still two kicks from goal who had fletcher on him and was always going to close on mumford. And this kick took place at a time when the entire team had spread to the wings for bolton to kick the ball safely into an area of minimal damage. Jetta saved Bolton's butt and then stuffed up the handball. Everyone remembers jetta's handball - see roos and greg healy (I mean gerard healy - how often does he stuff that up ) on the couch last night. But it was Jude's stupidity that was the problem. he was just lucky that jetta swept the ball up because there were about four bombers in the vicinty and no swans other than jetta. For the love of god, I wish the selectors would see that Jetta causes more damage than good. A simple handball under little pressure on the weekend would have given a player a shot on goal, but it missed the target by a good 2 metres. Finally davey was standing absolutely still and mattner missed him. To blame jetta for that when the two senior players (i presume both are now in excess of 150 games - i know jude is but i presume mattner is as well ??) executed skills and decision making so poorly is ridiculous.Comment

Your right we don't need another old hack that has broken down. Brian Lake is finished at the Bullies because his body can't hold up in a game any-more so why should we want him.Im excited by what gary rohan could become too and parker has been impressive, theres no doubt we are building a good list just annoying we could be safe in the 8 but for silly patches in games v melbourne adelaide freo and now essendon
I think we need to get johnston in to develop in partnership with reid, unless we have just decided we are getting walker or hawkins or someone like that.
I cant stand brian lake so hope we dont get him
We have lots of talent coming along
Lamb; could be brilliant
TDL; when he finds his feet will be great has already shown what he can do at this level
Rohan; running back and drive from the hb line will be super
LJ; fantastic kick and is going to either play back or forward and will be a boon but I think forward possibly FF
White; I am frustrated with Jesse as he has all the attributes and could be so good, a star in the making if he can get it together
McCauge; will hold down full-back one day
Haren; another possible FF
Mitchell; star in the making
Murphy; could end up a very good mid
Hannas; already there
AJ; doing it already & improving every week
Parker; I love this bloke he is in and under & when the players get used to his lightning h/b we are going to get a lot of fast run going
Heath; another who can play back effectively (we don't need Lake or some other hack we have lots of young backs
Is that enough? There are more but I think you get the drift we are looking goodComment

I actually thought Jetta was quite good. It has been pointed out that Jude stuffed up the kick already. Now, here are a few, Shaw and Mattner constantly kicked to a contest when kicking in and always to the advantage of the Essendon player. Shaw kicked over the head of players or to their feet most times in general play in the first half. Jude buggered up h/b and kicks, Ryno rushed half of his posise, Tadhg fell over all the time buggered up 3 h/b and ran into trouble all the time. What I am trying to point out is that I believe our senior players are not setting the example, they are the problem more often than not when it comes to poor delivery. I believe all the young blokes have far greater skill than most of our old brigade and a few of our old blokes are becoming downright slow. See Tadhg, Ryano, Bolts (should only be used as a small forward mid days are over), Marty even got caught and has a few times recently. For the love of god, I wish the selectors would see that Jetta causes more damage than good. Agree ! Goodes played an amazing game in which he both won us the game and lost us the game in subsequent plays.I have rarely seen one player have such an affect. At the finish you can both praise him highly and criticise him highly because he was both good and bad. Jetta was ok.Bit over the top imo.
