The guy's had a horror run with injuries, forces his way back into the side, play's one game - does a few good things, then suddenly he's @@@@?
Give him a chance to get to AFL pace.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.
He stood in the middle of the ground waving his arms frantically.
By the time they decided to kick to him (2 players later) he was put under the pump, but still managed to get the ball away, just.
I couldn't believe they ignored him when he was free for so long.
I tried to keep an eye on him most of the game. Did some good things, and some not so good, but as Bloody Hell said, first game for a while.
Can't expect miracles. I hope he gets to play out the season, then we can see where he is at.
It's difficult to understand just how big a difference there is between the standard the reserves play in and AFL level. Meredith, through no fault of his own, could be on the outer now that Parker has become seen as the future, and with Tom Mitchell on the horizon. When he had the chance to string a few games together a couple of years ago he looked really good. Extended time out of the game, especially for someone at the start of his career, can really set them back a long way. Take Lewis Johnston as an example. He has missed a good 2-3 years of football, most of them without even appearing in a Swans jumper - it took him 2 years to actually play a game for us at any level. This has been a major setback for him.
Unfortunately, as our selection policy would indicate, Meredith will probably be the first candidate to be dropped this week, simply because it seems we almost work on a last in, first out system, and have done so for a while now (not just this year). Always being around the same ladder position at this time of the year means we always have to decide whether to build for the finals or the future. Meredith needs more time. However, I'm afraid he may be trade bait this summer - with talk about Sylvia, Walker and Lake heading to Sydney, we're going to have to give something up to get one or more of them.
An excellent kick...first goal anyone ? A set shot from 60 (and I'm not exaggerating). His big issue on Sunday was not manning up...and then not keeping up...ie Houli had a disposal HBF where M couldn't gets within a metre or 2....50 metres upfield and Houli has a nother disposal but M is nowhere to be seen until it is too late AND THEN Houli keeps going upfield and M is 15 metres away for the 3rd disposal. M is one of the reasons it seemed like Houli, Deledio and a couple of others had no opponent all day. However you can learn to run, chase and tackle...you can't learn to kick a set shot from 60.

People saying this like OUT: Meredith "just not up to it" or calling him soft and saying he won't make it. you might have to wade through the deep, long, depressing threads.

I'll keep clear off them thanks! I believe in giving everyone a go ;-) Trust me I still hold out big hopes for Jesse White.....

Hardly hate... compared to some of the garbage directed at Longmire, that's all pretty tame.
I didn't see the game but it would probably unfair to drop him after 1 game unless he had an absolute shocker and that doesn't seem the case. I've said all along I really don't know whether Meredith will make it. He goes well at Reserves level but there was always something about him that made me question his future. He's got his chance now so let's give him a chance to see if he can make a fist of it.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

No hate from me. I am like Al - I havent seen anything yet that makes me sit up and take notice. I really hope that he will be a star because we need one but I havent seen anything to suggest that he can take a game by the scruff of the neck. Please, please, please be a star, otherwise he should get traded.

The most telling thing about that was as soon as he marked it 50+ metres out all the senior players around him pointed to the big sticks.
