I watched the warm up at ANZ this afternoon - he loped through the drills; displayed no enthusiasm; finished last in his run throughs - and I was not surprised he was mostly a passenger for the 1st half.

I agree he did some better things in the 2nd half.

Further, Goodsie has better things to do with his stamina than waste it giving "hugs" to one player to try and build some confidence.

For me Jetta's time has come FOR THE REST OF THIS YEAR. Geelong is not a side to have such a player carried, and whoever we play in final (if we do) will likewise probably need bigger bodies for us. Next year after another preseason; hopefully in future years, maybe, but with the talent and enthusiasm in the 2's I think Jetta has had enogh runs this year.

Ironic this thread was started today.I would of agreed with it's heading last week.
But IMO he had his best game of the season today.
He chased , harassed, and even tackled, then found some ball in the second half.
He certainly had an impact today and won't, and shouldn't, be dropped.

I believe this is why he is persevered with and I agree with the decision.

I am surprised this came up this week though, even in the first half when he couldn't get near the footy his pressure was good and there was positive signs of things to come.
        Well said.

          Yeah.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Pretty ordinary in the first half. Better in the 2nd half but still not clean.

I am excited to have Gary, Jetta and potentially Parks in also...............Rohan and Jetts in the team together makes it more difficult for the opposition to match up............that is two very quick players along with Reece and Goodesy..........we can certainly get our fast break footy happening and 4 players to match up on these guys will create trouble

I think Kennelly went one week and Mal probably needs to go also......we cant carry Mal and Jetts ie their light frames not getting in there enough......and Jetts has more upside with his running game then Mal............I feel Mal is still there only because of his passing into the forwards but it still wasnt that great today

Mal will get back to his best soon, he's a gun. I'm not sure how you can suggest that Jetta gets a game ahead of Malceski.

Watching at the ground, Jetta ran really, really hard. Countless times he had worked hard to find space but his teammates just didn't see him. That said, even the most outside of midfielders need to be able to hunt their own ball at times, so to only have 1 possession in a half is unforgivable. However, his second half was much better, and he really made some things happen. It would be a bit harsh to drop him after what was probably his most encouraging half this year.

Mal's a good player at his best and I thought his second half was pretty good yesterday but too soft to be a gun IMO.

There was one pretty early on that really stood out. There was a massive flood on and Goodes managed to grab a mark at HBF in front of the StKilda race and Jetta took off from the centre square with a Sainter in pursuit. They were the only 2 players inside the Swans half. Goodes just needed to kick it as far as he could and let Jets do the rest, but he stopped, propped and from memory fluffed a short kick to the boundary for an OOB.

Yep, I remember that one clearly (and nearly pulling my hair out as a result). There were a few others like that. Gotta feel for him, when you're not having a great game, to be ignored by your teammates when you actually DO find space just rubs salt into the wound.

Jetta looks totally lost at this level and while probably a star at the next level down has seemed to get worse playing in the AFL. He was monumentally lucky his weak kick to the centre wasn't punished by a goal while his shank that ended up looking like a pass to Reid was also lucky. That with the dumb 50 metre penalty was worse than what Tadgh has been delivering.

Sure a better second half playing in a side that was in total control of the field play. Not hard! It was the time he was needed to nail 2 or 3 goals and it didn't happen. Comments on his football are way too soft.I know he is a great guy but we are talking football and he is a liability going into the finals or not. Compre his efforts to Meredith,Rohan, Hanners,Aj Lj and you wonder why he is still in the team?

I like how everyone says that he is getting worse, you don't think its because horse has got him trying to play more defensively, he was a one way player last year, this year he has taken a new role and that is too make sure his player doesn't destroy us.
He is learning give him time, to write him off this early in his career is pretty silly, comparing his efforts to the above mentioned players is like comparing fried chicken and taco's(completely different things) there is absolutely no point in it.
Him being a liability in the finals is a bit of an overstatement seeing against the bulldogs last year, i was in the crowd and i heard some bulldog fan saying he will miss a goal from outside 50 then him calmly slotting in a high pressure environment was amazing.

Funny how we can watch the same game and see it so differently. My thoughts at the time, from quite early, were,"He's working much harder."
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
