On Sunday it certainly did look like a new blood brother with Spangher careering around the forward line, with the mop top then the bandage he played homage to Kirky and Bolton with their multiple split heads, what a difference urgency around the forward line, a bit agricultural at times, loved it when he crashed through the pack skittling just about every one...REFRESHING

Absolutely! Style those crazy curls a la Ceasar and he's a dead ringer.

Over the last 2 or so year whenever I saw Spang play I thought he was one of the worst players going around the AFL. In a horrible team, mind you.

But after seeing his 2 games in the seniors, I've changed my tune. Definitely has value for us and seems like a great bloke. I even met him one night at a mate's 21st at a Paddington pub during our most recent bye. He was out with Hanners, Teddy, JPK. Was carrying some beers back to my table and he politely got out of my way as I had my arms full. I thanked him and quickly said "you back from injury this week?". He said "yeh should be back in the 2's hopefully mate". I acted nonchalant but I was going nuts in side, getting to talk to a Swan.

Would be a big shame if he's out this week again. Definitely provides something in our forward line as another athletic option across HF. He, Reid and Jesse looked good all together. If he's out, Gordon comes in for him I would think. Or Pyke perhaps to take the 2nd ruck/FF role, allowing Jesse to play FF all game.

I demand though the Spang now wear tape around his head and shoulders for every match. He turned into a suicidal beast taped up and dare i say it, without the tape he becomes a mere mortal again. Tape+Spangher=Win.

Yes, I'm with you Nich. It also makes him look very much a Swan with all that bandaging!

A possible Spang in middle age:
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Seems like we got a new cult figure at the Swans.

                  Sid Spangher!

Spang played I think his first game out at ANZ with WestCoast, and the commentators were flinging that nickname around back then. It never took.

A man who looks like a roman emporer's coin should not be called Sid. Tony perhaps. I prefer Spang. No one else is called Spang surprisingly enough!
