I?m glad, amazed but at the same time not surprised, considering his character, that McVeigh is in the team
for this coming weekend.

Is it appropriate for us in the crowd to wear black arm bands to show our support for Jarrad, Clementine and
their families?

I have only ever seen arm bands worn by teams of some sort.

I like most others, can?t imagine what they are all going through at the moment but I think it would be great if, on mass on Saturday, we can at least show them that we are in some tiny way riding this wave with them.

Sometimes the simplest explanations are the best ones. I reckon Jarrad's fronting up to play footy, because he really wants to play footy. If Jarrad/the club wanted any external commemoration thing on gameday, then I'm sure the Swans would let us know. I expect that just an extra-loud cheer for every McVeigh touch, will do the job.

Arm bands are generally just for players. I wouldn't say it's so much inappropriate as just a bit of a visual non sequitur. It wouldn't be inappropriate perhaps to wear/do something as a commemoration, but I wouldn't make it big (e.g. a banner) as I'm sure McVeigh wants to put it all out of his mind for a couple of hours.

I also don't think Jarrad will be thinking of, or care much, about anything but his family and playing for quite a while. I just thought a silent
show of support (heaven forbid I couldn't think of anything worse than making a banner) may be good for him to look back on one day and think how so many people that he doesn't even know cared about what has happened.

Bit torn on the armband but would lean towards "no". However, I think we need to make a lot of noise when his name is read out so he knows (or learns later) how much he's appreciated.

Not a fan of the armbands for the crowds, he'll know how we feel everytime he touches the ball I reckon.

So excited to see him back, I'm sure having football will help him in surviving the very long term grief him and Clementine would be going through and the ups and downs associated with that.

I'm not banner maker or taker (?) haha but I think an appropriate banner showing support or solidarity would be seen as a lovely gesture. The actual team banner last week about Bloods sticking together, that type of thing. I don't think anyone would like to see RIP signs around the ground or anything confronting through of course, so I agree there.

A lovely kind gesture and thought and I don't mean to sound negative but I feel Macca would want to forget his personal sorrow for 2 hours while he plays. I just worry seeing that kind of support may cause him to think about other things besides the game and cause him to break down.I know it would affect me that way.

I don't know. Really. I mean Sunday is Father's Day. I think it may all be a bit too much if we as footy/swans fans buy into it. We are NOT his immediate family. We are the family of Swans. Luella has been fairwelled by her own family and Macca wants to play this week. I think a bit of breathing space is in order here.
