Dont think White did a great deal, swap him for Pyke ? That being said, if it aint broke...... The Hawks are a far better side than the Saints though, we cant afford any passengers.

I've been on and off White over the season and am back on for the rest of this season, for several reasons.
Yes, he didn't do a lot yesterday (compared to the mids anyway), but what he did was done pretty well and he was no passenger. His team mates seem to want him there and respond to his presence. He is a useful ruck fill-in (a new position created by the substitute rule), more so than anyone else we have tried there, including LRT. He is now part of an increasingly stable three talls forward line which presents some serious problems for defenders; it bothered Geelong and will really stretch the Hawks.
          I wouldn't move him.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

No need to make many changes to a winning side, but White should go. That mark he dropped on the wing was so typical - he goes missing for much of the game, and when he does get a chance, marks bounce right off his hands. I honestly do not see what he brings to the side.

Goodes had the most I50's for the night. Guess who was next?? He also pinch hit in the ruck for Mummy to quite a good effect. It's no coincidence that that the improvement in Jesse and the inclusion of Spangher have structured up our forward line better and is now a lot more dangerous that at the beginning of the year.

The question is, do we have someone who could do what White is doing, but do it a little more effectively ? Pykes ruckwork is excellent, he can clunk a mark, and from all reports, is a reasonable kick at goal. Im not saying we should dump him, but the game i watched last night ( i was there so i might not have seen some things that may have been more apparent on TV) White didnt seem to have any real bearing on the outcome.

                  Ryan O'Keefe.

Okay, okay, they were equal. But Jetta did quite well on that stat - indeed, he got more than White's five on several occasions, I believe, and he's not in the side.

I see no reason why the same structure could not be maintained with LRT, Reid and Spangher.

                    Jetta couldn't ruck.

LRT's best position is in the backline and was always only a stop gap measure forward. Jesse's endeavour and commitment to the contest in the past month is 100% better than earlier in the year when I thought his career was finished. I'm pretty sure the coaches are more than happy with what he's doing at the moment.

Rather depressing that a person used as a "stop gap measure forward" and ruckman has more goals and hitouts than White this season.

Look, I understand that a big body can be useful to have out there. It's how Ryan O'Connor got twenty-odd games for us. But if he can't take a mark, and has very little impact on the game, then I have to wonder if we have better options.

Already said that Jesse was crap earlier on in the year. However in the last month he has showed a lot of improvement and is doing what is required. His 2nd efforts and body work in the forward line are creating opportunities. It also means we can quickly get the ball into the 50 knowing the likes of Jesse and Spang will not let the ball to rebound quickly.

Gee whiz Jesse gets a hard time here. He did more than enough for me. I was disappointed with the dropped mark on the wing in the fourth quarter but apart from that he competed really well and as well as pyke could have. And I like pyke a lot.

This is where we disagree. I think his work is making an impact on the game. I couldn't say that earlier in the year but I can certainly say it now.
