Gees it was Hitchcock-esque out there last night.
For a professional sport where the TV rights are worth >$1 billion to have the field invaded by pests is ridiculous.
It was so distracting and annoying from the stands, I can't imagine what it is like for the players.
Those seagulls have to go.

They had a couple of extra Hawks umpiring the game early on - you think they could have spared one to scare away the gulls

It was very distracting. I agree with others. They get paid mega bucks for the TV rights yet can't keep these pests away. I thought they had an eagle that circled the ground these days that did the trick. It would be rather bemusing if the eagle made a reappearance for the GF. I wonder what the players thought about the birds.

They employed a falcon and handler a few years back, not sure how successful it was.
Judging by Friday night, I'd say it was a fail.

They should play at Blacktown Olympic Park. When I went to the NAB cup game there this year, a wild falcon was circling the oval, hunting for insects.

Well that would have kept the feral Hawthorn supporters away. I think I would rather have the birds thanks very much.

By the way...55,000 at the game. There would have to have been 15,000 of us and a decent swag of neutral MCG and AFL members. So I wonder how many Hawthorn members turned up given they are supposed to have over 50,000 members. Appears the budgies, dogs and cats stayed at home.

Yeh, but they come in late in an arvo game too, but I guess it isn't the whole game.

Would it kill the MCG to perhaps put some type of netting over the top of the ground.

I'm waiting to see a bird get hit by the ball, and whether Razor would give away a free kick for doing it.
