Bored at work and not much to read on RWO, so thought I'd put a side togther for 2013 based on our current list.

Although 2012 will be a great year, I believe 2013 could be even better, taking into account player development.

Based on the age of players (and if all things go to plan, such as the re-signing of Reid) we could be in for a period of sustained success (top 4).

I think Ryano & Shawie would have chucked it in by 2013. Probably end of next year. It doesn't get any easier as you get over thirty. Macca will not play permanent back flank he is probably not strong enough. Mitchell will play in 2012 & it wouldn't surprise me if he plays most of the season. Walsh wasn't brought here to bench sit so I think he will play all year if he is up to it. Fantastic tall forwardline & so many options at the back with our tall timber. Dunno if Mitch Morton will be a walk up start he has to get through 2012 first. Our mid is going to be sensational with Parker, Mitchell, Joey, Lamb chop, Bennie, Hannas Jack, Rohan, Goodes and Ryano WOWWWWW!!!!

I think Everitt has had his shot and is depth only now. Too many have gone past him, and can't really see a role for him in the 1's.

The good thing is, there are suddenly a lot more options (especially midfield, wing & attack) to play with given the inclusion of Mitchell, Morton, Walsh & Armstrong. I am looking more at 2012 and would have a few changes in that I cant have McVeigh in the back line - too many mistakes, but would be good value in the forward line, along with ROK & Bolton to allow the young guns to get stuck into the midfield.

Looking at the bench, I think we need to take a leaf out of Geelong's book this year and rotate players thru the team, especially the midfield to try and keep them fresh for the end of the season.

And I agree with copying Geelong's rotation strategy. I would add copying three of the top 4 teams this year and playing two ruckmen; in the long season it's a plus, not a minus, and the P/T ruck just doesn't work as well.

Your probably right about CHB - I tossed Mattner, LRT & Reg around for the last position in the back 6 as they all have good and bad points, but hopefully one of them will do the job or get rotated depending on form.

Pyke to the bench, rotate with Mummy through bench and "resting" forward, keep White and occasionally rotate him through the centre to reinforce our mids and keep the opposition on their toes.

If Pyke has a big pre-season and is used as the second ruck, he will need to play more game time in the forward line. You couldn't rotate him solely off the bench, as that would only leave 2 interchange players to rotate through the midfield, which is not enough.

It's either Pyke or White as the forward/back-up ruckman. I can't see how you could play both.

I hope Jessie proves me wrong and we can use him more as a permanent forward, instead of second ruck.

Armstrong couldn't even make the Crows best 22 most weeks.
What makes so many on here assume he'll be in our best 22?
Same goes for Morton and Walsh.
At this stage these guys add depth, and have plenty to prove before getting a gig in the 1's.
