You forgot one fairly important group Al.

    The original Bloods!!!!!

I remember a mate of mine having to explain to Sydney supporters many years ago why he called out "Go Bloods" at a game at the SCG!

Could we please rehash the argument about whether or not Kirky is a hippy, and assuming he is, whether or not he therefore probably likes Byron Bay, whether or not that is a drug reference, and associated implications/aspersions? Because that was really fun and interesting. Or not.

I think we can trust Kirky to act with integrity and pass on only what is ethical to pass on. There will be no secret exchange of insider info and the better the culture of the AFL as a whole, the better all round for the code.

Interested to see how he goes.

Culture is a funny thing and from what I can tell, Gold Coast have already gone OK in developing a respectful and hardworking environment which is a pretty impressive feat in the relaxed Southern state bogan migration belt of Queensland that is the Gold Coast.

The recent cultural changes at the Swans under Roos was built on the "bloods" ethos and digging into the rich history of our club, not something that can be done at Gold Coast, so it will be interesting to see the type of culture he helps build there and what motivation they find to develop to it. I guess being the pioneers of a lasting culture at a new club would be a great motivation.

hmm good question - if he is a hippy, then he is quite a well too do one - so if Byron was in the equation he would be residing in the posh part of near Watego's. Personally I think Byron Bay is sooooo overrated- very dissappointed when I went then a year or so ago - I thought Brunswick Heads was much more laid back and there was no pretention what so ever. Great pub and beer garden and beers at normal pub prices - not the rip off like at Strops pub in Byron. I reckon Kirky and clan would be much more at home at Brunswick heads or Kingscliff - anyway - his life, his choice - he will do whats best for his family. Pottsville is quite a nice joint too - more up market than Mullumbimby but with a definate hippy feel

Its two days a weeks kids. Flight up in the morning, work all day, overnighter, work all day, flight and back by 8pm.

Can't see them all moving up to Qld so that Kirky can work two days a week on a one year contract, when all the rest of his work is much much further south of the Qld border.

What is a hippy? There's certaily not too many left in the main town of Byron these days. I don't think a person who meditates daily, follows Buddhist ways would be. I try to do this and I don't regard myself as a hippy. A tattoo ??? Well every man, woman and dog has one these days. Byron was never the same after they moved the CES to Lismore and the millionaires moved in. Nimbin would be regarded as being "hippy" yet the drug abuse there is deplorable. Don't get spirituality out of a bottle, cone or syringe.

Probably doesn't really matter whether he is or not. It's not what is on the outside that makes a man/woman and how they appear to the world.................

I'm sure Kirky will help build culture there without any breach of loyalty that he has for the Swans. Just teaching his philosophy on how people can better themselves.

You don't think a strong culture at every club benefits the AFL as a whole??

Still if he'd gone to St Kilda to fix their crappy culture I'd teepee his house.

Yeah, fixing that joint would be like trying to empty the ocean with a spoon wouldn't it.
