Todd Balym (Former AFL writer for the Telegraph) just tweeted this:

AFL called me re: Kieren Jack draft eligibility story yesterday. Wanted my tape. I stand by story & no-one at Swans has ever questioned it.

Who cares , all the clubs had the chance to rookie list him. They didnt, we did.

As for the Stat Dec , its a pretty broad stat dec and none of the stories contradict the stat dec in any way. It doesnt say for example he did it on time or in accordance with the rules for the draft. I could comply with the stat dec and send in the papers two weeks late. It just says he registered for it , not that he filled out the papers in accordance with the rules, posted them and that they got lost.

Thats because it's a non issue on Jack after this amount of time, the bigger story would be if Demetriou knew it was outside the rules but pushed it through anyway and then asked Jack to do a Stat Dec to cover bottoms, as per Garry Jack's reported conversation with him. So why would the head of the AFL greenlight an investigation into his own actions when he already knows it wont be a good look? It will be swept under the carpet in typical Demetriou style.

Yep, it's an issue for the Demetriou, not Jack. But the footy media stopped reporting on this a couple of weeks ago so there isn't much to worry about.

One thing that comes to mind here. This all started didn't it because of something that Gary Jack said. You know, the father, ex representative Rugby League player, who played for ever and ever. That many hits, compounded with how much time has passed since said event....who said Gary got it right!

Todd's like a dog with a bone with no meat on it. Most dogs work out when there is no meat on it and bury it in the garden, but Todd's still walking around with it in his mouth.

AFL have announced that there's insufficient evidence Jack did anything wrong, so the case is officially closed.

Todd Balym doesn't have the tape of the interview. Bit strange not to keep it if the story was so newsworthy ....

Just a waste of everyone's time.

Reading some of Balym's twits makes me think he points an empty gun every now and then.

Maybe if he thought things through a bit more before committing to type!

To be fair to Balym, it was a puff piece he wrote more than a year ago. It is Tim Lane who seems to have recently decided that some gross miscarriage of justice has occurred and that it is a newsworthy issue. Though why Balym would tweet that he had been asked for his tapes if he didn't have any...

                              I missed the Lane input.

See the article linked in the opening post of this thread. It is the reason this thread was started.

And Lane is still refusing to let things lie, with another article today decrying the injustice of it all.

All-clear on Jack deal can't be taken seriously
