You could have just given the $20.00 to charity, at least you would have done something decent with it.

yes agree - And you could claim it back as a tax deduction!!!(so thats a win win) Geelong are not a spent force by any stretch - they have wealth of reserves to step into the shoes of those who have retired.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I just don't understand betting and how these on line betting sites come up with their odds.

I just looked at the Centrebet site, which has us paying $31 to win the comp. OK, that's fine, whilst I (probably motivated more by my love for the club than anything else) thinks we are far better then that, I do accept it. What I don't understand or accept as logical however, is that St Kilda are only paying $15!
Doesn't that mean then, that this betting agency thinks St Kilda are more than twice as likely to win the comp then us? This just seems completely and utterly dumb in my humble opinion and surely even the most loyal Saints fan would be dreading this season.

i am at my peril going to say that Sydney Swans will be knocking on the top 4 door...... but fair dinkum there is nothing between the top 8 teams. My danger is that I am to close to the potential of the Swans......but we are not there yet

Freeo will be better then ever under Rossy Lyons

          Bombers could go either way

Hawks, Carlton, Pies, Cats, West Coast, Sydney have some very good depth and exciting talent

Jewels, I too wouldn't know a bet if it fell out of a tree on me, however I think that the odds are determined by what the punters are putting in. In other words, there are a lot of enthusiastic St Kilda supporters who are flushing their money down this particular sewer, so the odds have shortened to $15 so that Centrebet doesnt have to pay out too much if they win (ha ha!).

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

That's correct Dosser. As far as I'm aware the betting agencies put up an initial price up which will fluctuate up or down depending on the where the punters money goes.

I haven't bet a single dollar on a sporting event in my life and I'm not going to start now. I know some people enjoy it and if that's your thing more power to you but it'd just not my thing. As a result I really don't take much of an interest in what the Swans odds are. I'm only interested in those things the club can control like how we prepare, train and play.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

ROK is as good as any forward in the comp & since he has been doing shooting prac with Stewie he will kick plenty this season.

eah the Blues have had plenty of time to develop those youngsters they got for so many years that were seen as the elite draft picks into a champion team. Funny this hasn't happened yet. The Saints are in the same boat, said to have the best list in the AFL for years and blew it but don't they always. We will beat the Blues this year and we will take 2 rucks into that game and Gibbs won't get away with sitting on Goodsie again. I would take our list any day rather than the Saints or Blues, oh the Saints elite in the article are looking a bit old aren't they? Hayes spent most of last season in the injury room, Riewoldt was only a shadow of his former self and several of the others had injury ridden seasons. Their list is older than ours and we beat em just to set them on the downward spiral.
