Ben Cousins hid drugs inside body

The troubled Brownlow medallist, who was believed to be heading to the Teen Challenge drug rehabilitation centre outside Esperance, was allegedly found to be in possession of 4.56 grams of methylamphetamine.

Police will allege the drug was hidden in his rectum, according to The West Australian.

He also was believed to be carrying a large amount cash when he was arrested.
Possession of more than 4g of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply carries a maximum penalty of 25 years jail and a $100,000 fine.

But if he is convicted, Mr Cousins will not have his assets confiscated because he did not have more than 28g - the amount of methylamphetamine which would have resulted in him being declared a drug trafficker.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Drugs are bad etc., but to be perfectly honest 4.5 gm is not a huge amount. For perspective, most drug rehab places list a hit of methylamphetamine as being about 1/4 gm, so he was carrying about 18 hits. For a drug addict that is not outside the realms of possibility to go and acquire for yourself.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Apparently it's enough to warrant being a pusher.

Yep, but most drugs have a pretty low entry level to being classified as a supplier.

If he had less than a gram it would have been deemed "personal use" and he probably would have only gotten another slap on the wrist.
If the law says that 4g is too much for personal use ...

He put it up his butt to took it into a rehab centre?
Please, you've really got to want to give up the vice in the first place.

Personally, I think someone dobbed him in. Why would the police be waiting for him otherwise?

                Just let him be.

We witch hunt people who take recreational drugs yet celebrate alcoholics.

                What a messed up country.

If Ben wants to take a lot of drugs and be anoymous about it..then he should leave australia. Sure amber lamps chasers like Hutchy will try and track him down for the first month but it will soon die out and he can go on with smoking cones, doing lines and failing to be a responsible parent.

What irks me more is when the do gooders think they need to save someone from drugs. Unless the person really wants to give up their dependency` then it's all just a friggen waste of time and becomes an exercise in self serving and moralising for the do gooders. The body and mind will tell you when it's time to put out the dobbie and have your last line.

I'm not a fan of Cousins in any shape or form, but surely the time has come to just shake ones head in pity rather than continue to poke jibes and in some cases on this board, actually rejoice in his misery.
