Pretty sure there is usually damage to ligaments when an ankle is rolled - the ligaments are stretched out of place by the movement which is why it swells etc. (have had a few ankle problems but not a doctor or anything so may be wrong)

The more serious sprains/strains normally involve some bone chipping off as the ligaments pull (It hurts, trust me!) - Don't think this is what happened to Rohan as he wouldn't haven't been able to bear weight on it at all ...

I think that might have been what is generally referred to as a little white lie :-)

Ok learning time everyone (including myself)

A sprain is an injury to a ligament, the tough, fibrous tissue that connects bones to other bone. Ligament injuries involve a stretching or a tearing of this tissue.

A strain is an injury to either a muscle or a tendon, the tissue that connects muscles to bones. Depending on the severity of the injury, a strain may be a simple overstretch of the muscle or tendon, or it can result in a partial or complete tear.

Parker, who had to have his broken jaw wired during his junior career, will have scans today.

Tough midfielder Luke Parker will miss 2-3 weeks with a fractured jaw following his collision with James McDonald. Mike Pyke has damaged his posterior cruciate ligament, with medicos hopeful he may only miss a week of action. Full details at bit.ly

Mitchell is still two weeks away? I thought I saw him running and kicking about a week ago.

He needs to visit Parker's dad to fix it.

Apparently Mitchell has suffered another setback which will put him back a further 3 weeks. It's the knee tendinitis again. Anyone know much about this? Like is it degenerative, can it be operated on ? Etc etc. Seems to keep recurring after it seems to have passed, it has me a bit worried.

Cameron said Mitchell will be assessed on a week-to-week basis. "Tom, who has been training for a couple of weeks and was due to play this week, last week his knee got sore again so he had to shelve our plans for this week," he said. "We'll know more next week as to how long it will be before he returns to play."

It looks like mitchell will not make it this half year if his knee will not improve. Do we know the real issue with tom knee and will it be a long term condition that needs to be fixed.

                            Thinking pessimistically:
Would this be another case of the curse of the Swans Father Son pick (John, Doyle, James)
                            or
Another just another case of the curse of the Swans First Round Pick?

That's very pessimistic - the kid is in his first season and his body was never going to be ready from day 1. I have seen him play (on tv last year) and he was an absolute standout in his age group - give him some time to get his knee right, and to build up a bit, and you'll see what has been getting people excited for a couple of years.....

Good news - the return of the Strut. Spang, Alex Brown and Mitchell back on the training track next week.
