I'd be stunned if Kennelly was slated in to play. After all he has retired........you DID know that, didn't you?

Its a bit of a shock how Everitt has emerged this pre-season to be ( in many poeple's opinioins at least) ahead of both White and Walsh as a tall forward option. I think most poeple would have had 1 ( maybe both) of those two pencilled in for round 1 action, and Everitt pencilled in to be as far away from it as possible! Obviously he has improved, and i hope he does well as he is still young and has potential. It also points out the the lack of progress with White ( deja vu?) and perhaps that there was a reason Walsh hadn't played a senior game for the Saints. Not that he's not good enough, but definitely not ready ( yet).

We're playing GWS, I'll be very surprised if we don't go in with an extra tall.
Though personally, I like the idea of playing Cuningham against the team that discarded him.

The coaches clearly think Cunningham is very close to being ready. If Rohan is injured I think he stands a pretty good chance of getting a game, especially as we play GWS and they have lots of young, skinny players. Would give the coaches a chance to see how he stands up in something close to "the real thing".

Something tells me Longmire won't necessarily go with his best 22 for Saturday. Look at the context - an established Sydney Swans Football Club goes up against a brand new Greater Western Sydney Giants in front-line strike against a code and in a market that will decide AFL's future success in NSW. The game will be played as both a season opener and a historical inaugural derby with each code's primary pin up boys in Sydney - Adam Goodes and Isreal Folau - it's focal point. The league has given this match such importance that the remaining teams will all play a week later.

Longmire knows we'll win. He could field 22 players who give the Cats (as reigning premiers) a run for their money. But this game is about publicity. What's important is how the uninitiated see it through the media. That may influence his final decision I think.

The week after is an entirely different (and familiar) story.

                      Thoughts?
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

I don't agree with that Danzar and I think the selected side will bear that out. The Swans don't give out free games anyway.

Shaw in doubt as well as Rohan.

It wasn't very clear in that Oz article whether Cunningham has actually been elevated but the following SMH article confirms it. At the very least he'll be named as an emergency and that will require elevation to the senior list.

Sorry Danzar, but Horse will pick the best 22 available and they'll be going hard. I'd be disappointed and cranky with anything less than that.

Have to agree. This its an opportunity to show case the swans. Why not put your best 22 our there.

To put less than your best team on the park insults the opposition who can often get fired up enough about it to cause an upset.GWS will throw everything they have got at us anyway, they have nothing to lose.Let's not give them extra food for a feeding frenzy!I expect them to fight bravely but be outclassed .However if we don't field our best team or come to the park with the best preparation then anybody can beat anybody in this competition and the difference between a big win and a narrow loss can be quite small. If they are deadly accurate and we are astray with our kicking they could stay right in it despite us winning hard balls around the ground. I believe we should field our very best team and show no mercy but play flat out the entire game. To do less is to disrespect the opposition.
