Absolutely. I think a lots of Fitzroy fans can't reconcile what happened to them with the Bears and weren't able to take the Brisbane Lions on in the same why.

Some early mistakes aside, the Swans have been nothing but respectful about our South Melbourne roots. In recent years it has been reverent. That's a really special and unique thing about the club. I've never lived in Melbourne, but I still feel a great affinity with our rusted on SM fans and appreciate how strong our history has been.

I beg to differ, it was certainly talked about, but the fact that ours was the longest gap between flags meant that it was made a bigger deal of than Fitzroy/Brisbane. Plus the fact that Roosy, in his speech made the link as well.

Would have been much better. I don't get those that say folding is better than relocation. Sure, relocation is a horrible thing for a club to go through, but it's better than the alternative, and I believe the Swans have come out stronger for it. To use a more recent example, if the Kangaroos fold I'll have little sympathy. They had a golden opportunity to make a move to the GC, and they had too much misdirected pride to take it. Of course, if they manage to get back on their feet then that will be the best outcome, but I struggle to see that happening (would never say that to a North fan though). I would have had a lot of respect for the Roos if they'd bitten the bullet and made the move.

South Melbourne has always been and will always be a part of this club. Its why people like myself have a family connection to the club going back to the 1930's, ( perhaps longer in some cases) always remember that King Roosy. Im pretty sure you meant no disrespect to the roots of our club, but i thought I'd remind you of that anyway.
