    Percentage???

I've followed this game for quite a few years now and have never understood how percentages are calculated. I'm no mathematical genius but when I saw Adelaide defeated the Suns by 69 and we defeated GWS by 63, I assumed we would be second on the ladder but I (happily) was wrong.
So could someone please explain to this poor old, dim witted lady how they reached that conclusion?

It's simply points for divided by points against, times 100. If our game was lower scoring then it tends to amplify our percentage.

Percentage is calculated by dividing a teams points scored by the points scored against them, multiplied by 100. So our percentage was higher than Adelaide because, although our winning margin was slightly less, GWS had a much lower score than GC.

You can also arrive at our percentage by adding the combined totals of missed shots at goal and marks inside 50 then multiply by the number of times that Rohan is in the hands of the trainers and then divide by the number of pies Al eats during the third quarter of a reserves game. It should be pretty close.

              (16 behinds + 9 marks * 5 trainers ) / 4.6 pies *100 = 270%

You don't seem the type who would leave 0.4 of a pie behind...or ia it remainder carried over to the 4th?

Basically, if you havea game where the score is Team A 80 points to Team B 10 point, well then Team A got 8 Times Team B's score. Percentage is 80 / 10 x 100= 800%
If you have a game were the score is Team C 200 points to Team D 100 points, then even though the margin was higher, the percentage is lower... 200/100 x 100 = 200%

This works because in team A/B it was dominated by A
In game C/D it was a more competitive game, in that D were abel to score half as much as C, even though C clearly dominated still.

Hope that can add to the above explanations

That's the approximate amount of pie that ends up on the ground or on my shirt.

Somehow I don't think we helped Jewels at all in this thread.
