The point about Moneyball is that players who are already in the system are known quantities while highly-touted youngsters are a massive unknown. Thus trading your draft picks for players on someone else's list could be a far more prudent way to go. Sometimes it words - Kennedy and McGlynn. Sometimes it doesn't - Paul Chambers.

Yes, Dunks did start with the St Kilda reserves, so I think we have a winner! Schauble and Ted are right up there though. #25 and #6 must be good numbers for the Swans.

Well if Ted Richards counts, so does Stuart Maxfield. IIRC, both wanted out of Essendon and Richmond respectively, rather than being offloaded.....

Geez it's a tough call, MAxfield never even tought of him, and didn't know Dunks came from Saints. Maybe someone with an intimate knowledge can put up a list after establishing some rules and we can take a poll. Sorry, that's the accountant coming out in me

If Geelong didn't want Diesel then it's game, set and match.

Diesel came up with Hafey. He was still a required player at the Cats but wanted out after they sacked Hafey. The Swans doubled his money to come up here and paid $120,000 transfer fee almost half of what Geelong wanted. So he really doesn't count as a recycled player.

Thanks Wolftone, I wasn't sure of the history there.

Then it's B2 or Teddy for mine.

It's funny this has come up today - dad and I were talking about it yesterday at the game. We started talking about how well Teddy is going, then went on to McGlynn and Kennedy before talking about our best recycled player. I've always been partial to Craig Bolton, so I think he'll get my vote, although I do like Teddy too. It's harder for me to remember some of the older players, so the recent ones are higher on my list.

Diesel came to Sydney as part of the Edelstein shopping spree. Bernard Toohey and David Bolton 'The Racehorse' also came from Geelong with Diesel and Hafey as well as Healy from Melbourne and Merv Neagle from Essendon.

Doubtful that any of those players, or Hafey, were truly unwanted by their clubs, but they were all made offers they couldn't refuse, so hardly could be called recycled in the sense we are talking here...

Barry Round, he wasn't discarded (the Dogs were selling him off) but we had to beat off competition for him. So I think he qualifies.
