Disagree that White has shown more in his 2 games then LRT. Regardless of this, LRT surely has enough credits in the bank to earn selection.

He should be (and is) one of the first picked every week.

I suspect that you're correct that Lewis has got some credits in the bank and it helps him nudge ahead for selection.

Happy to agree to disagree on their contribution so far, granted "possibly slightly better" isn't exactly demanding Jesse is way in front. I do think that in the two games there's been a fair difference in their ruckwork (to my eyes), with Jesse in front; that may not have shown up in stats but I do think Jesse has been limiting his opponent's ruck effectiveness a little more whilst directing his own won taps a bit better (he hasn't matched up against Sandilands, but I don't recall Lewis going head to head with him too often in that game).

I'm actually happy with either of them in the role, really, and do hope Lewis has a blinder- just thought Jesse was a bit stiff to miss.

I'd say he was brought in to play on Hale actually. Hale has been very effective in the forward line for the Hawks. But if that were the case Jesse should still be playing. But they may just get LRT to follow Hale no matter where he goes. The other alternative is Seaby on Hale in the ruck and LRT while he is forward and Drey or Goodsie taking Roughy in the ruck.

I agree with you that White is stiff. I too want him in the team and would much rather him then Everitt, regardless of how well Everitt played last week. Annoys me that Horse doesn't seem to want to play White and LRT together.

Credits in the bank are crap. Brad Green had plenty of credits in the bank at Melbourne and look at him. Always pick on current form not past deeds. Having said that both these blokes have pretty good form. LRT had good games before injury and Jesse's form the last two weeks has been good.

I just want to be clear on one thing that I truly believe. Some are saying LRT will play on Buddy, if so he will get towelled up like he always does on Buddy. He is not the right match up on Buddy, as a matter of fact I believe you have to double team him, one while in the forward line and one when he moves down the ground. The other thing to do is to concede there is nobody who can match up on Buddy and play Reg on him. Concentrate on their mids and Rioli and Osborne. Roughy and Hale will rest forward and will kick goals if they get it.

No. What it means is that with Goodes coming back we didn't need White to play forward so we could pick a 2nd ruck who could play back if Buddy/Roughy get out of control. Surely a combo of both. In this case, if a players form is similar to anothers, then prior experience/long term form must be factored in.

I think the Selectors pick the best available team to beat this weeks opposition.

Of course White contributed to the win. Just because he didn't score three goals didn't mean he didn't help set up an equivalent number.

As for his 5 "really dumb frees", that is a bit harsh. One was a dreadful HTB decision against him that bore no resemblance to how that rule was interpreted for the rest of the game. There was another HTB against him on the wing that was a clear HTB but it happened because he was trying to set something up, rather than just bang the ball on his boot. I don't mind it when players get pinged for HTB in those circumstances because it wasn't lack of awareness. He was just waiting for support that didn't arrive in time. One was a fairly soft ITB against him in a pack marking situation. I can't recall the other two but those three I have identified were hardly "dumb".

I'd have liked to see him get another go this week, but I have no issues with LRT coming in either. Jesse is currently on the fringes of the senior team because he hasn't grabbed all the chances that have come his way over the past couple of seasons. He is going to have to wait his turn and hope that when / if he does get another chance, he continues to make a decent contribution to the team.

This reminds me of the 'get rid of Ted' crowd from a few years ago.

Ted was terrible in that period. That's why he was playing in the seconds. Saved his career in the back half of 2010 when LRT got injured and has been fantastic ever since.

Well Im torn as Im a fan of LRT and White here but given we are playing Hawks if LRT is required to go to Buddy who is the 2nd ruck option? I thought for team balance they would have left white in at FF and dropped Everrit. This probably does indicate they dont see or regard White as a key forward? After a couple of resonable games where he did his job as 2nd ruck why wouldnt they play him as FF? Everrit has had many chances and is at best a utility/parts man I would have thought developing Jesse into key fwd role would have been a option, but the coaches obviously know the balance they want and is best for the team. I have to admit Im struggling to understand the FWD structure they are trying to achieve I dont think we have the correct fwd structure as is, to get us far in sept but that is only IMHO which stands for crap.

Don't be surprised if there is a late change due to injury, ducks and drakes maybe, although Horse isn't known for that type of tactic, Jesse will be flying down with the team, I'd like to see them both play as well

He creates space, he is starting to use his size to block and break, kind of like an icebreaker, and the number of times his team mates went up to him after a goal was kicked by someone else on the team should be a red alert that he is doing what he is being asked to do and they consider it to be done well.

If LRT goes to Buddy after playing forward/Ruck for virtually a whole season we are in trouble. LRT IMHO is not fast or mobile enough for Buddy. Eventually when he has matured enough AJ will be a natural match up. At the moment the Buddy match up is problematical and LRT at this time to me shouldn't be a part of that equation. I would play a double team switching on Buddy otherwise nobody will have the tank to go with him.

Cyril is carrying an injury but even so is still dangerous. I would switch between Shaw and Smithy on him. Osborne is a hard nut but I would play Mal on him as he is prone to give frees away on faster opponents.

I would have liked to see Jesse again too and I totally disagree with you Liz, he was very good last week. He did a lot of heavy stuff and some of his taps were gold. He set up three goals too just through hard tough play. So I think you are being a bit hard on him Liz and if you remember rightly I was very critical of Jesse for some time over his non involvement in play.
