    Worried about Lamb

We have a fantastic record of recruiting gems from mid/late draft but our first round picks have been a huge disappointment. If we'd nailed just a couple of those we might be much more serious flag contenders.

Now I'm worried Lamb may be going the same way as O'Keefe, Vespremi and Johnston.

It seems from ressie reports that he's hardly firing a shot.

Are the regular ressie watchers also worried about his lack of form or is there something not right about him fitness wise at present?

He was brilliant last year so I know what the kid is capable of. While he's been disappointing so far this season I won't be pushing the panic button just yet on Chops. He's too young and it's too early in the season.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

It's only his 2nd year on the list.
I have high hopes for him, but not high expectations just yet.

Are you sure you're not looking at him through rosemary tinted glasses?

YES! I think that's the first actual new Lamb joke for some time?

I'm not too concerned, he's young and every time I see him his delivery and footy IQ just ooze class to me.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Well here's hoping he comes good.

It is tantalising to think of how much it would add to the team had just 1 or 2 of those 1st round picks turned good.

There seems to me (and this does simplify things and there will be exceptions) that there are three categories of swans players (not including established/upcoming players traded into the team):

              1. Those who make it basically straight away in their first 1-2 years at the club (Hannebery, Reid, AJ, Parker)

              2. Those who might frustrate the fans but the coaches must see something as they continually get picked and then lo and behold the coaches knew what they were doing and they develop into key players (Grundy, Jetta, LRT).

              3. Those players who seem super exciting and talented to the fans, are constantly talked about here, but don't make the team regularly and seem to be in and out when they do get a chance and then eventually get cut (L Johnston, Veszpremi etc).

I worry that TDL, Meredith are in this last category and that Lamb might be there if he doesn't play seniors soon.

Is he not on a 2 year contract. If he hasn't played a game by seasons end will he be retained?

On potential, most definitely. However if there are issues with his attitude then he could well be shown the door.

Noticed that chops crumbed a goal in the 2's game.

He didn't play that badly yesterday but I think there is an issue with his fitness. He seems a bit thicker set this year and I don't know that it has been that beneficial for him. He is a burst player and too much bulk is not so good for that type and I think he may have overdone the weights. More aerobic fitness for him. He is only young yet and they will get the fitness regime right over time.

Jed was always a big fish in a small pond. Footy has always come easy for him unlike life, so a period of adjustment is probably to be expected. I thought his second half last night was a bit better.

                          hhhhmmmmm

with 3 of the recruits in the draft being flank style players i wonder if Jed is truly being groomed as an inside outside midfielder ie he will need to play significant time on teh field in both roles ?

Maybe he just needs to be crutched and dipped to ensure we get a few good seasons out of him.
