He certainly seems to be pretty adaptable on the day and tweaked things quite nicely, but as Horse says himself, all it is is a good start to the season. One half on Sunday was pretty poor the other half sublime. It is the second half of the seasons draw that will tell the tale.

I think we can praise Horse without denigrating Roosy's achievements. You could argue that he was doing the same thing to help Eade.

Horse does bring some of the lack of acclaim on himself by the way he talks about the team's performance at the press conferences. He's either deliberately playing things down or he does believe that things are that simple. I tend to think it's a bit of both but there's no doubt that he and the assistants are doing a good job.

i was watching AFL insider the other day (been watching a lot of AFL shows this week given we had the win and would hope to get lots of swan coverage). i particularly liked David King's analysis on the swans tactics. one in particular stood out - dealing with the loose man in defence. most of the good teams have a loose man (Collingwood - Harry OBrien, Geelong - Scarlett, Hawthorn - Josh Gibson) - the thing they pointed out was that Reid would follow Gibson around, and therefore make the man that was on Reid become the loose man. eg in effect, still having the loose man, but not allowing hawthorn to choose who it should be.

They also showed some mid-field into the forward line action with Kieren Jack getting away from his man (this was the goal Jack kicked from near the boundary line). Really interesting to watch that part of analysis, as you really get an appreciation for the tactics and movements of the players off the ball that can help benefit the team.

I have already admitted that I was wrong and I have praised him on other posts. I think he now has the right balance in the team which was not there last year. He also has a far more talented list than Roos ever had. He is proving to be a pretty good tactician and help in the box is immediate this year unlike last year. I believe Henry Playfair makes a big difference in the box and Horse is willing to listen to his specialist coaches. I like that very much! Good on you Horse you proved me wrong, now to win a PREMIERSHIP!!!!!!

Makes you wonder how stats sometimes are over rated. Reid gave up his role in a way yet he was blasted as being quiet.
