Goodes - oh no (out 6 weeks)

Swans co-captain Adam Goodes will miss the next six weeks with his left quad injury.

My how the tide can turn. Poor Adam. This week will now be about the media saying we wont finish top 4. Time for Jesse to REALLY stand up. Make or break now. The team needs him up front kicking multiples.

Lets hope Goodes gets back earlier.

Let's hope he gets back fully fit and ready to go, no matter how long it takes.

We can carry no Goodes for the next 5 or 6 weeks. We need him back and ready to go when we hit the tough run after the bye....

Wow a week is a long time in footy, this time last week flag favourites now no doubt we will be written off.....he will actually miss 5 games as there is a bye in there. We really need to do something about the forward line now and yes, J. White needs to stand up now, its his time.

            Bloody hell!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

West Coast have lost their entire forward line and are still top (he says, seizing straw).

West Coast had 7 of their first 22 out yesterday and still won, although the track record they have over there with umpiring decisions doesn't hurt. It's fair to say we don't have the depth the Eagles do though.

Anyway, his replacement is an issue for the team list thread. On this one, we need to wish Goodesy well and hope he's a fast healer!

                    We should be ok.

Richmond, melb, saints, bulldogs, essendon he will miss.

Mummy should be back for the bulldogs n essendon game.

Our midfield will be fine and it will give a white, walsh etc a few weeks of continous footy to find some form.

Yeah but groin injuries mean you can only run in a straight line..agility is gone. Ask Hally a few years ago.

Wont be the same for the rest of the year unfortunately.

And at 32 it will take longer to heal.

                        Thats the sad reality.

Awful news but we just have to deal with. He's our best player so the onus is on the others to step up and cover his load. It's certainly going to test us, but we shouldn't have expected the season to go swimmingly anyway. If we want to hold on for a top 4 spot our team is going to have to work its backside off and I don't mind watching to see who steps up.

Thankfully he'll be back for the big games at the later part of the year. Good luck on your recovery Goodesy.

Well lucky for us is he didn't injure his groin, it's a high quad tear (they're saying hip muscle tear rather than a groin tear), which means with the right rehab his agility won't be affected.

Like anyone, if he's an idiot and starts to run before the tear has healed of course it'll affect his agility, but even though he'll be out for six weeks, it's actually better than what he had a few seasons ago (like RO'K) when groin injuries restricted their movements.

Definitely time for the others to step up now.
