    Good to know.

I'm sure Hawks fans are still cursing him. Anyone but Mattner and Birchall might have got away.
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

Well no we could have had Mattner, Schneider and Dempster, the suggestion that the trades were linked is simply red and white coloured glasses to gloss over the Meredith debacle. I'm aware the club pointed to salary cap issues causing the trade, but we had plenty of dead wood on the list at the time that could have been dealt with.

As for nobody predicting Dempster coming good you should probably go back and read a few of the posts at the time the trade went through, a few of us were bigger fans than Roosy was.

Back on topic, I am also very happy we have Marty, and was very pleased that he picked up a well deserved premiership medal!!

Isn't wearing red and white coloured glasses contrary to the Bloods culture, which is inimicable to BS? A tricky conundrum?

By Dempster fans do you mean in the way I am a fan of Andrejs and others are fans of Jesse? We see something but not everybody does.
If you mean Dempster fan in any other context, our memories of his time at the Swans differ greatly.

I mean in the way that over the course of his 54 games for the Swans (including the 2005 premiership) he showed plenty to indicate that he was going to be a good player.

He was (is) tall, athletic, a beautiful long kick, and able to play on talls and smalls in the same manner as Craig Bolton. In fact his best game for the club was his 3rd last where he picked up 22 possessions and 11 marks in a belter of a game against the Eagles.

Basically he is the prototype for the modern utility and is exactly the type of player recruiters are looking for.

He showed much more in his time in Sydney than Andrejas has to date.

Anyhow its done and dusted now, and we managed to scam the Hawks out of McGlynn and Kennedy in a similar rip off so that helps me to sleep at night

No need to be so defensive, it was simply a question/ statement on how we see things differently.
Just as you and I have differing thoughts of John Longmire in the early days of his tenure, we have differing views on Dempster when he was here.
Always looked like the proverbial deer in the headlights to me.

Very disapponted we shed Dempster, but comparing him to Craig Bolton, really?
I can't see him going body to body with Jonathan Brown.
I think a better comparison for Dempster would be Marty Mattner (remember him, the subject of this thread?).

I also think Marty is a Legend! Some of his work has been no less than brilliant, and I am waiting for the day he actually turns to the crowd to do a hero stance. Any bets on that actually happening! Mind you we got ONE from Stuey in the North Melbourne SCG Hail game (1999???), so anything could happen.
