Game Day Thread - Round 7 against the Tigers (please play nice)
Guys, TDL work was awful, he failed to pick up his man on the spread and allowed them out.
Horse will be ropeable, he may get a run next week, just to run him into the ground.
He was thrown in at the last minute of the third and managed to get two kicks to players that turned up goals! You are putting far too much emphasis on the time TDL had on the ground and hid influence. I would say he gave off two very good passes that ended up in goals and another that was a gem. We lost tonight because we didn't come to play on the big arena! Roos used to get them to train in the Gardens before an MCG assignment. You need to know how to play the big ground and how to negate your opponent on such a ground.
The problem we had was that at no time did they let us get clear! How!!! It is mind boggling to me as we could have set up Jetts on several different occasions but we just fudged or fumbled! This was a really nervous performance! I thought our mids were well held tonight but if we had have had the game plan we could have cleaned this mob up! We were always off the contest and they always had a player at the defensive side of the centre bounces and we got caught out time and time again.
Like against Adelaide the defence played a man back to take he ball and create the loose man and they did. I would have thought that Horse would have worked out the tactic by quarter time but he didn't and it continued to happen in the second quarter. They must have been laughing so hard in the Richmond box as Horse has been stuffed by the same @@@@ two weeks running!
Everyone that's been bleating about bringing back White happy now? Remind me how many points he contributed to the scoreboard tonight? Or how many tackles he laid? Or now many chase downs you saw him do? Managed to give away his usual free kicks though.
Business as usual then. Said it before-not only does he contribute nothing, he has a heart the size of a pea.

fascinating comment. and what about the other 40 times the ball went forward and came flying out at 100 miles an hour ?

horse should be ropeable - at the 22 or so from the last three weeks who have had three first quarters where we have been outscored by around 6 goals per quarter.
i'm pretty sure that there would be a stat somewhere for teams which concede 6 goals and score between 0 and 2 in the first quarter for winning percentage. and i suspect its probably below 25%

Pathetic.
Can't argue with that, well.... I can. That assessment is fair, I guess some of us see the upside, just not seen enough of it. Plus, that game was a hard one for him to. Influence. That said, very valid post.

Our game plan consists of bombing into our forward line. Might work occationally if
a) you're lucky and it finds a forward
b) youve got a gun forward (goodesy?)
c) The opposition dont play a spare man in defense.
Seems the opposition have worked us out, and adopted (c). Damn clever these coaches.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
Just watching Eagles 1st qtr...what a bloody difference...more injuries than us, playing a way better side than Tigers.....but sooo different in approach. Guts and genuine pride and talent....notwithstanding a couple of years tanking of course...

Fair, on the other 21
He was just lost on the spread. Maybe it was raise in level. He will not remain in the side if he allows his man to spread to space as easily as he did tonight. He is a clever player, a good kick (both feild and for goal) but not a big contested mark. We cannot afford him if he does not run out and provide defensive pressure.
I don't know, any player coming from our ressies will probably need 4 or maybe even 6 weeks to get up to speed at top level footy, especially against a fast team like Tigers. I doubt White will get the chance to do that, and we will experiment with different players and setups until Goodes and Mummy come back

i'm happy enough to bite. our team has a list. if we rated everyone from 1-40 white is never going to be top ten and maybe not top twenty. but our midfield group and delivery was just desperately bad - and too often because of a forward line which is chopped and changed without any improvement the midfield bombs it long to a contest where our half forwards get to the pack very much second
white was rarely outmarked forward of the ball. on the other hand our half forwards were smashed time and time again.
the real issue is that the range of players in our first 10 who failed tonight and the coaching group who were appalling. o keefe playing spare at the back because he was comprehensively outplayed forward. mcveigh who did not win a one on one contest. richards and grundy who conceded too easily. mcglynn who was anonymous.
name one of our midfield group who beat their direct opponent - the only possibility is jetta - name one of our defenders besides aj who beat their forward or name one forward who beat their opponent.
