Agree. After this weekend our two losses don't look nearly so bad.

Plus the reaction to the Melbourne game has been focused on the Demons - people have overlooked just how good the Swans were. We made very few mistakes and looked like a top four side.

TDL put in a strong effort by his standards of pressure in defence and was handy on the lead in attack

could do a Lewis Jetta if given the chance

I know it is hard to criticize when we won by such a whopping margin and a 100 point win is great everytime!

However...I think we made lots of mistakes! Malceski's kicking efficiancy on the night was horrendous, missed many targets. I thought our kicking into the forward line was also hit and miss at times. The number of times we did kick long to 3 on 1 (3 Dees to 1 Swan) or at least not to our forward targets advantage was frustrating. Plenty of room for improvement! Saturday night will give us an indication where we are sitting.
        Swannies for life!

Anyway it's a moot point... He will not be dropped.
Al, between hamburgers, you are really fickle. In earlier threads you argue how you have to earn a spot at the Swans. Does one good half in a slaughter justify a month of poor returns? No-one expects Reid to be a Locket at 20 years of age. But the team deserves someone effective at FF. There is nothing shameful about being dropped to the twos to gain some form and confidence. Reid going back enables someone else to come forward, even a dill like White. Just because you are accorded 'golden status' does not mean someone in the twos should miss a chance at the top level.

Firstly his confidence is starting to return so dropping him would be silly. Secondly he takes the best defender so while he hadn't been contributing on the scoreboard he is still competing and opening up opportunities for the other forwards/Mids to kick a score. If he wasn't competing and getting to contests then a spell in the 2's or a rest would be warranted.

And to address your last point, there is no one who that can do the same job as Reid in a structural sense currently playing in the Reserves.

With Reid if I was horse I would leave him in because me needs to mentally push through form slumps and attention at the top level.

Agree with Reg. Dropping him is only avoiding dealing with the problem.

One thing worthy of comment from Sat night - being at the ground you could appreciate just how much harder the Swans were working than the Demons. There were several times where it looked like the Dees had opened up the spare man and it would go coast to coast in a blink. To see the guys gut run to make position and cover their team-mate's man while they worked up the field to cover someone else's was really eye-opening. And when you compared it with how easily we opened them up the other way, it was clear, even when the stats were quite close, just how much better we were.

It was very encouraging and while yes it's true it was an "easy" win it was one based on some sheer tough hard yakka - well played boys!!

How is Moot Point going in the 2's. He gets a fair run on RWO.

That's Reid's problem he kick too many (moot) points.

FWIW I would only consider resting him not dropping him to the ressies.

I referred to Tadhg on an earlier post in a thread that has since been sandpitted. I liked Tadhg's comments - he didnt mince his words nor should he have...

                            Is the game over yet?
Poor Melbourne. We shouldn't kick them while they're down; it'll just add to our stats.
