    Yeah. I like that thinking.

Although, since he became coach, Armstrong has been reluctant to change a winning team.

So true. I think it's because he is a slave to the thinking of his celebrated predecessor in the coaching role, the great Armstrong.

I can't stand Armstrong's commentary. Footy was better when Armstrong was commentating instead...

Tony Armstrong is a very good user of the ball. He also knows just what position on the ground to be at the right time. He also directs the movement in the defence. He is very good at evasion and using the ball quickly and that makes up for any lack of speed.
Yep, although I'd be tempted to say that indigenous players are in fact generally on the quicker side, whether due to genetics or the types of physical activity they tend to do. For every Kickett, Pickett, Motlop, Micky O or Armstrong, you've got about five quicker players like Goodes, Franklin, Jettax3, Garlettx2, Yarran, Ryder, Riolix2 (would be x3 if Dean wasn't so, er, lumbering), McLeod (never looked that quick but moved exceptionally fast over the ground), I could go on and on.

But the point is, not all indigenous players are particularly quick, and maybe peoples' perception of Armstrong is influenced by the perception that they are.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

True, although that Armstrong guy is pretty quick.

I wonder if people's perceptions (or definitions) of quick have been changed by the presence of Jetta in the team (and fleetingly, Rohan too)?

I think Armstong is pretty quick compared to most players, certainly most on our team. He may not have the explosiveness of a Goodes (or Judd or Dangerfield) and he certainly doesn't have the cruising speed of Jetta. He might not have the two step acceleration that Kennelly possessed. But I reckon he would have most of the players in our squad covered for pace.

A bit off-topic, but the Saints are likely to get back Fisher, Schneider and Gwilt, plus it's Lenny Hayes' 250th.

I hope they bring in a number of underdone players and a kid in the ruck, Snides has had one game in the vfl, I think they'lll stick with the kids they have in.

On the quick issue, I think a lot of our players are under rated as speed goes. Parks jumps out of teh blocks ok, but I wouldn't back him over 100m, Jack, Benny. ROK, while looking slower, still managed 30 odd disposals last week, he' be just about match fit now after the injury, measured against Jetta they are plough horses, but Jude still managed to run down dangermouse. Players need to use their footy smarts to know where the ball is going to be, just a thought

Very quiet in the Swans media world atm. Could there be a big change in the wind ? How about AJ out, Lrt to backline and Spangher into the forward/ruck role? Or Harry in for Birdy ?

Unlike last week Bird will be needed in the middle to mind dal santo or Montagna or Hayes. To those who bagged him don't forget he has destroyed Mitchell and Harvey this year....in BOTH directions - goals as well....and was leading the AFL tackle count. very smart player who keeps his feet and balance in traffic. Shame his disposal is only average. Adelaide and Richmond games best ignored for now.

Shaw played on Harvey. Watch Bird on big grounds he is rubbish
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

I watched the '98 Grand Final last weekend and I'm sorry BSA but McLeod was @@@@ing quick. He burned off Simpson, Harvey and any other player that tried catching him. I don't think Paddy is that quick nor was Darryl White but they are clever and move their body in a way to break tackles.
