    We've got.....
    A pretty good backline.
    A developing midfield.
    And a non existent forwardline.

On field, McVeigh is a non existent captain. Don't know off field.

We desperately need a big FF who knows what he's doing....anyone know where one might be hiding?

We won't be a bona fide contender until we have some semblance of a forward line.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Sounds like a few people should go and find another team to follow this year. I'd suggest Essendon or West Coast at this stage as they're possibly above a bunch of other teams that will challenge for the 8. Probably one of these 2 teams are premiership favourites at this stage, however feel free to pick another team of your choice.

I for one will be sticking with the Swans as I think we are a better team than some on here give us credit for and I see some areas in which we will probably improve.

We've lost 3 of our past 4, two of those were horrible performances. Surely it's not difficult to comprehend that there might be some negative comments on here. It's the negativity after a win that is sometimes misguided, but I think everyone is well within the rights to be pretty pissed off with last nights performance and if you can't handle that then I think your being a bit precious.

Yep Macca is a bit non-existent but also it doesn't help when he throws a hissy fit with the umpires. He is not providing a good example to the younger group. The delivery to the forward line went back to the bomb it in and hope again. Don't know what you think but most really good sides seem to me to have very strategic delivery to the forwards. I don't think either Plugger or Bazza would be able to work with this type of delivery. Does it take one of our talls to get very badly hurt before Horse wakes up. I'm sure he would not have put up with delivery like that from players further upfield when he played FF.

We have lost to Adelaide who are a gun side, and Richmond who just pantsed the premiership favourites, and Saints who have been hiding some pretty good players until the last couple of weeks. I didnt see yesterday's game and I am not going to put myself through the agony of watching it, either. Yes, we were crap and inept. Yes, I have to go to work tomorrow and face the Saints supporters who I didnt let up about with Tommy Walsh. But let's look at perspective - we have a young midfiled who is developing, a key forward who is 20 and a FF who was playing his second game. Take out three of our best players as well. Inconsistency is always going to be the name of the game for the next year or two, so we are simply going to have to grit our teeth and bear it. Being a supporter is all about hope - if you have hope then it is an exciting game.

I remember going to the games at the SCG during the dark years and every time you would look for a positive. Troy Grey was improving, or Considine had a blinder (I wish!), but either way you knew you were going to lose but you had joy because of one thing - hope. We still have that. OK, I dont hope for this year, but I do hope for the next few and I think we are on track.

We need to be a bit more realistic and cut the kids some slack. They are not super-heroes who win every battle, they are going to lose their fair share of them as well. I dont enjoy my team being thrashed and insipid, but if I can see that one or two players are learning and developing through it all, then I can cope. It's all about hope. Let's just be thankful that we dont support Melbourne...

Well we're 6th now and that's were we deserve to be quite frankly. We'll have our work seriously cut out for us if we are to get back to where we were before. Be interesting to see how the boys bounce back.

                Like a dead cat.

The only top 4 the Swans will see from now on will be in the reserve grade competition. Sorry to say.

Do we what, and we did have one in what would of been his final year....it rubbed it in even more seeing him stand there with a couple of mates with a beer watching the game against the saints (bradshaw) as I left the game late in the 3rd. I was thinking, get out there and help us! What could of been with him at full strength in the team, no doubt top 4 IMO.

As always - we seem to beat those beneath us and struggle with those on the same level or above.
Unfortunately, the season just gets harder from here and I think we might struggle to get our 12-13 wins req to Play finals.
Will be a tough year to crack the 8 let alone the top 4 and I would be happy to see any improvement on last season.
Having said this much - others such as WC have had a dream run and would not be surprised to see them flounder soon with Ess and Crows not far behind.

The difference is that these aren't dark years. The Swans as a club almost promise that they'll make the finals every year. Before the first game posts here said 10-1 was possible at the season mid-point. For the last 5 years its been a half empty - half full scenario. It is great to see new development but looking through this forum you can see the enormous frustration that there are key areas that arent being developed or cannot be developed.

You have to be hopeful and positive when you're at the bottom. There is nowhere to go but up. Where we are is rattling around in the middle, possibly good, possibly a rabble, with a couple of key players to come back.

I went down for the game this week and I really do understand all the negativity, I feel like suing the club for the thousand bucks I spent for flights and accommodation!
The fact of the matter is though, that we played like @@@@ and the saints did not, this has happened before and it will happen again. Frustrating as hell to watch but that is life.
This year possibly more than any since I have been following the game, the competition is so even that I think we are a pretty damn good chance of finishing top four and if we don't then again, this year more than any other, I can see a team from outside the top four stealing it.
Maybe I'm just an over the top optimist, but I prefer to call myself a supporter who supports my team through thick and thin. I certainly get annoyed at them, but I always support them!

All teams will have ups and downs, don't be surprised if we come out and beat Essendon, however unlikely it sounds right now, don't be surprised if we beat West Coast at subi, and the HAwks and Geelong aren't looking like the unwinnable games they were at the season start, looks like all it takes right now is for one of the younger players to stand up and commit to some leadership, some inspiration from someone on the ground to get the players up and about. Coming into the second half of the season with a fresh Goodes and MUmmy doesn't look so bad to me, but the next 2 games are important and we need to be hard at the contest and make teams dread the idea of coming to play us
