the draw is a problem once it starts working. If crows had of drawn all the top teams twice based on last year people would whinge it was stupid. But now they win its a problem.

Very vic centric this draw whinging thats going on. Im happy not to play GWS twice, especially in a few years, bet people wont whinge then.

Did we win ? I feel a lot better now.

What a terrible nightmare that was seeing around twenty scoring shots to four over 45 minutes or so. Thank god that nightmare is over.

That was very harsh. Were you at the game? I was and we were the best side for most of the night. They played virtually in 4 to 5 bursts and won the game. We couldn't put it where it counts, on the scoreboard. We outplayed them only to lose because we couldn't score. We had 7 more scoring shots and 5 out on the full shooting at goal. All of the shots that were missed were gettable. Kizza running into an open goal miss, he wouldn't do that in a million years. Goodsie lines up twice 40 metres out misses both, one OOF and one point. Bennie lines up from 50 and doesn't get the distance, rushed behind, he always gets them from fifty or closer. Pykie 30 metres out misses the lot, he would never do that normally. Birdie kicks one beauty has another closer and misses completely.

Don't tell me we were not good enough, we bloody were, the psyche was all wrong and we paid for it. We had them cold in the third and let them go. We had them in the last and couldn't score goals and missed easy shots, we were good enough just couldn't bloody win!!!

Woops I wish they would delete these old threads. Sorry about that. Trouble is on the game day thread people are saying we played badly and all is woe & I think that is crap!

                We're crap. Here's why:

                1. We haven't beaten a side above us on the ladder.
                2. We've lost two games this season to two sides that between them have beaten us 19 times in 21 games over eight seasons.
                3. We've lost two more games to sides that aren't even in the top eight.
                4. Only percentage is keeping us above some other sides at the moment.
                5. We've got a few players injured.
                6. We're sharing the top four with a team of cashed-up bogans, a team from the city of bogans, and a team that pretends that they are not bogans.

Lighten up people. There's 17 sides that would like to be where we are right now.

                      Swans, Crows impostors: Malthouse

It's reasonable to say that if Collingwood and Hawthorn had played GWS twice instead of us, the current top 4 positions would probably be different. He does have a good point about the Crows, who not only played GWS twice, but the Gold Coast also.
mate I think it is the best ever article that Mick wrote.........its a pressure releaser !

Johnny has been selling us as a bottom 8 team all year saying we are playing the best teams almost every other week.........John has managed expectations while Mick Malthouse has opened up pandora's box.............he is saying the Pies and the Hawks are the best.......and arguably so...... as they have great depth and some world beaters in their teams BUT now he is putting all the pressure back on the Pies and Hawks and guess who will be there to stick the boot into Nathan Buckleys pies if they dont make the GF etc

                      MICK

If WC had all their players this season there would be nothing between the Hawks, WC and Pies and we can still give them a run for their money

PS and we are still no.1 this week !

Let's be honest people...we aren't really top 4 material. Not on our performances over the last month.

Losing 2 games in the last min and losing to a team that has been beaten once at home in 5 years... Hardly damning stuff.

Crows on the other hand havent played a top 4 side since round 9.

Who cares? We are in the top 4 and other teams aren't. Congrats to the boys for a great season so far - tough finish, so let's see what we're made of come finals.

Yay - finish 3rd on the ladder gives us a double chance. Not that we'll need it.

Disappointing...but i'll bet i'm not the only one who saw this scenario unfolding 4 weeks ago.
Yet a bit more resolve when we hit the front last week could have changed it all. two centre clearances that should have been controlled...but that's life against a good team.
I do feel we let ourselves down with selections lately. Walsh was not terrible but his taking off early says something. I rate Parker & could not believe he was left out of the 23. Armstrong was not the worse...are there any more Selwoods we might get?
goodes is still struggling with something even though he did some nice things. Grundy seems to be in dream world lately. Shaw too. Mike pike couldn't adjust to the finals like atmosphere today.
Low expectations for next week but who knows...it's a funny game.
